In which we learn that fables about the Holocaust are “controversial books by white male authors” and need to be replaced by books that are “more representative.”
I kind of hate that I noticed this, but what I see is a muslim woman who thinks that young people shouldn’t read books about the hideous attempt to wipe out the Jewish population in Europe.
The victims of the Holocaust were not diverse. (Well, they actually were, but their diversity was denied in order to monster them more effectively.) That was kind of the whole point. The Jew was a monolithic entity acting as a focal point for the German people’s resentment, frustration, anger, and fear.
One of the many, many lessons to be learned here is to be suspicious when diverse populations are transformed into monoliths.
More diverse? The Trans Girl In The Silk Negligee, perhaps?
I never read The Alchemist, I heard on good authority that it’s new agey woo. Maybe it’s good and I just don’t know what I’m missing.
The progeny of Portugese and Spanish “colonizers” are way more diverse anyway.
Does anyone know if the original TED video that this clip was taken from is online? I’ve searched Youtube but I can’t seem to find it.
(Don’t support the woman’s sentiments in the clip, but I’d prefer to see the whole video before passing judgment).
Apparently the woman’s video was taken off Youtube after criticism.

Ah. I was just going to reply to you to say I’d tried but so far been unable to find it. I guess that’ll be why.
Also, the horrible Tommy Robinson posted that video up on his Twitter. So I assume his toadies might have gone after the young woman in question.
Yes, I believe her ideas are totally wrong. But she also doesn’t deserved to be harassed or doxxed by far-right goons either.
True.

Well quite. And we need to notice such things.
