That’s very satisfying news. I doubt this will move the dial at all for the devoted mega crowd. Hopefully it will nudge some fence sitting Republican voters to cross the line. I suspect that this will be another election that will come down to 100k voters in four States though. So, maybe just moving a small number of those voters from R to D, or at least no vote, will do the trick.
When this case was brought, I agreed with what appeared to be the consensus of legal commentators that it seemed the weakest of all the cases that might (and eventually were) brought against Trump.
But none of those other cases are likely to make it to trial in time to even matter. The documents case is the strongest, but Judge Cannon is sabotaging that, SCOTUS ran interference on the D.C. Jan. 6 case, and the Georgia RICO case has been a clusterfuck of prosecutorial screwups.
Meanwhile, NY D.A. Bragg and his team got this case to trial, and they got convictions, so hats off to them.
Florida law deprives convicted felons of certain Civil Rights including the right to vote, serve on a jury, hold public office, and restricts the issuance and renewal of some professional licenses such as real estate and insurance.
As someone who has served on a jury and taken it seriously myself, I am grateful to those who served on Trump’s jury and likewise took it seriously. Maybe, just maybe, that line from the Pledge of Allegiance ending with “and justice for all” isn’t a dead letter yet.
With a bit of Trumpian luck, he could even get the occasional visit from Melania, or even Stormy Daniels: for conversation only of course; and perhaps a bit heated at times.
America is right now in need of a gigantic Band-Aid.
5 more lashes and they can make a Jesus out of him…
He’ll still claim crucifixion without the nails or planks, though. How long before McNaughton paints him wearing a crown of thorns (assuming he hasn’t already done so)?
And within minutes of leaving court he took to his (un)Truth (anti)Social to proclaim himself a ‘POLITICAL PRISONER’ and beg for money, and sent out the usual self-pitying email:
Is this the end of America?
I was just convicted in a RIGGED political Witch Hunt trial: I DID NOTHING WRONG!”
I agree it’s unlikely he will be given jail time for this offense. However, a felony conviction could cause him trouble elsewhere. He’s on pretrial release in Georgia. His passport has already been taken away. It could cause him trouble there. And then there’s the matter of providing him with information prior to the election. How can he have any kind of clearance if he’s an indebted, convicted felon?
The best part, though, is that he will likely get probation, which means he has to report to a probation officer in New York. Probation officers are not known for their deference and politeness. He’s not going to be called “Sir” in that room.
Now the fun begins . . .
Tomorrow’s NYT: “In this Ohio diner, voters are just as troubled by Joe Biden’s 82 years of age as they are by Donald Trump’s 34 felony convictions.”
But at present, a lot of people are pointing out, he’s a convicted felon.

Celebrating with a campy ’80s gay anthem I’ve always loved:
One rule for us, for you another
Do unto yourself as you see fit for yor brother
Is that not within realm of understanding?
A fifty second capacity of mind, too demanding?
Well the poor unfortunate you
There are a myriad of things that you can do
(Like pick up a pen and paper
Or go and talk to a friend
The history of the future
No violence or revenge)
Your shame is never… ending
Just one psychological drama after another
YOU ARE GUILTY! (GUILTY! GUILTY!)
And how you ever entered into this life
God only knows…

Goodnight America, it was nice knowing you.
January 6 was the Beta Version of what the MAGAhats and Trumpholes are about to unleash. They’re armed, angry, and stupid.
As someone who has served on a jury and taken it seriously myself, I am grateful to those who served on Trump’s jury and likewise took it seriously. Maybe, just maybe, that line from the Pledge of Allegiance ending with “and justice for all” isn’t a dead letter yet.
Well done, America!

I hope I’m not breaking any laws by never having presumed that stupid bastard innocent.
CLANG.!!!!

Good news!
But alas, it doesn’t disqualify the scumbag from holding political office:

That is comforting.
