Frankly, abusive
Rivkah Brown is truly horrible. Not just wrong, thick, delusional, sloppy in her thinking, but horrible.
I didn’t see all of her claims about Tickle yesterday so I failed to grasp quite how horrible she is.
There. That is horrible, disgusting stuff. She insists that the huge rancid man who set out to bully Sall Grover out of having a women-only network is the victim here, and that the woman he victimized is the baddy, and that she is driving him to suicide.
It’s warped and sadistic and foul.
Well.
It’s breathtaking arrogance to lie so brazenly and expect not to have negative social consequences. Evidently, she has weighed the advantages to her of supporting criminally-minded blokes, over supporting the other members of her sex, and decided that (currently, at least) she’s winning if she continues to piss on women. After all, history shows that we are rarely the ones instigating action against male dominance and abuse. She’s safer (at the moment) siding with men over women. Sadly, that’s the calculation far too many are making. Better that there should be future losses for other women, than present losses for her. She doesn’t foresee a future in which she gets sued by a man for blocking him on social media, which is effectively what Jason has done to Sall.
For once, I am glad I have an avoidant personality (which some call a disorder): The whole notion of status within a coalition is so toxic to me that I have to stay away from groups because of the anxiety they provoke in me. This, ironically, helps clarify my vision: I will never capitulate and say the emperor is wearing clothes when his dick is so glaringly obvious.
Brown is indulging in emotional blackmail. SHE should know better.
If Tickle is at risk of suicidality from something as trivial as being told a basic fact about himself, then he has severe mental health issues and should seek help for that. It is not incumbent on others to lie just because he refuses to take care of his own health. He chose to push in to a space where people are likely to make a distinction between men and women.
Also, how is it a dereliction of journalistic etc. if they accurately convey the words used by the people they are reporting on? I take it Rivkah expects them to do that insidious, dishonest thing that has become popular in media lately – changing he’s to she’s and similar, sometimes without even indicating an edit has taken place.
In TRA-land, truth is harmful and lies are ethical.
And she gets to cite Tickle’s supposed suicidality as a reason to ignore critics who have the effrontery to bring up the facts of the case in order to question her take on it.
There are lots of futures that Brown doesn’t foresee. Sharing a washroom, shower, or changing room with a man. Meeting a man on the field of a women’s sporting event. Facing a man in accessing the services of a rape crisis centre. Being strip-searched by a male police officer who “identifies” as female. Being imprisoned with a man. Losing a writing job, or place on a women’s writing prize short-list to a man. The wider the inroads on women’s spaces made by trans identified males, the greater the likelihood that her support for trans “rights” will blow up in her face, with one of these “unforeseen” futures crashing into her life. At this point “other women’s problems” become her own. The shoe will be on the other foot, and she will be confronted with the grotesque, misogynistic injustice for which she’s been a gleefully bullying useful idiot. Who will she call upon for support and sympathy then? The very same women she is currently excoriating for defending women’s rights against a future and present that she refuses to contemplate. And they will answer the call. Not necessarily for her sake, but for the sake of the female solidarity which Brown is deriding, blind to the fact that their fight is hers as well, and that she benefits from their struggles because she’s a woman, whether she likes it or not.
Thank you, YNnB. You are correct on every count. She’s utterly blind to all future events which might affect her, but is nastily ignoring the stuff which has happened, and is currently happening, to other women already.
“Tickle makes clear ”
Well, that’s it. Game over. Having it made clear is almost as good as being “told”. No one is actually that credulous but when you have a Trump level lack of self-awareness it all seems to make sense.
