He won the hearts and minds of the American people for very stupid reasons: they want someone to hate the people they hate, and burn the Constitution down. They want to install someone who is an ego maniacal dictator. I have to believe that is the main reason, because Trump has made no secret of who he is.
What I wonder is what reason Dawkins has to think Musk has the welfare of the world at heart.
This. A relative sent me a video about Musk’s outsize influence on the election (via Twitter and other methods), and it spoke of when Musk “lost his damn mind”; I’m not convinced he’s changed at all except becoming richer and more influential. I don’t think he’s ever had “the welfare of the world at heart”.
Yeah, those awful media, engaging in “propaganda” by putting Trump’s actual words and deeds out there for the world to see and hear. Again, Trump does more to put himself in a bad light every time he opens his mouth than all the media on the planet could possibly have managed since the dawn of time.

Well, yes, in an entirely propagandistic way, by treating an obviously mendacious, malevolent, transparently evil, and stupid man as if it were perfectly normal, and with faux both-sidesism, as if the opposing candidate were equally flawed.
Like rape victims, who must be perfect and flawless to be valued over a rapist man, the Democratic candidate must be perfect to be valued over a characterless Republican.
Edmund Muskie cries? Career killer
John Kerry falsely swiftboated? Career killer
Howard Dean gives a hoarse enthusiastic yell? Career killer
Hillary Clinton’s emails and Benghazi nothing burgers? And being a woman? Career killer
Joe Biden being too old (barely older than DJT)? Career killer
Kamala Harris not generating enough enthusiasm? Really? When compared to the unmitigated disaster that is Trump? When the other candidate is an existential threat to the country and the world? Are you kidding me?
Legacy media has a lot to answer for, where money and entertainment value matter much more than liberty, democracy, or the truth.
Musk has nobody’s welfare (let alone the world’s) at heart, except his own. What is the matter with Dawkins? The kindest interpretation I can put on this ridiculous tweet is that he is trying to insinuate to Musk that Musk is morally better than in fact he is in the hope of persuading him to behave in a better way than he is ever likely to do. Good luck with that.
It will be interesting to see what happens when the two biggest egos on the planet clash over something…probably something trivial, like who gets the second scoop of ice cream, or something minor. I think the resulting supernova could wipe all of us out.
Most of the people Trump is nominating are big egos who have been groveling in order to get what they want. I can’t imagine things will go well.
Coincidentally, the video I mentioned was a breathless promotion and summary on some other channel about the video you posted. The one you posted is much better, I wish I had seen that instead.
Thank you, Sackbut. The Meidas Touch version was also at times a bit breathless, but it seemed to have most, if not all, of the original video (which I haven’t seen) in it.
One cannot fail to notice how those ardent Musk fan-boys and self-proclaimed protectors of ‘free speech’ where Covid disinformation or Hunter Biden’s laptop is concerned preserve a careful silence when their hero sets about spreading disinformation, giving space to neo-Nazis and anti-Semites, and making it much more difficult for the voices of those who are interested in truth and facts to be heard. The craven hypocrisy of these people is despicable.

I disagree with Dawkins’ assessment of Musk. Sorry Richard, but he’s an idiot.

Meidas Touch Youtube on Musk & Trump. It’s worth watching.
