Jolyon Maugham and his Good Law Project have faced yet another defeat. Earlier this year, Jolyon’s brigade attempted to overturn former Health Secretary Victoria Atkins’ ban on puberty blockers, raising a whopping £60,000 from gullible donors to fight their case. The High Court has now upheld the ban, citing a study that identified “very substantial risks and very narrow benefits” of puberty blockers. Another one bites the dust…
The Good Law Project took to X to bemoan their loss, promising they are “consulting on next steps.” This marks the second case Jolyon has managed to lose in less than a week. When will credulous donors wake up and realise that when it comes to campaigns, Jolyon seems to be the kiss of death?
Probably around the same time they realize people can’t change sex.
That money they raised: it didn’t vanish into thin air… it went to lawyers’ fees. Good Law Project are… lawyers.
They didn’t lose; they won sixty thousand pounds.
At this stage, it appears to me that the kimono-clad fox-basher is trolling everyone; the cultists for virtue-signalling points and cash, and everyone else for notoriety (almost as good as fame!) and to remain in the public eye.
“Give us money to lose more cases!”
Beats working for a living I guess.
As long as the client keeps paying and doesn’t show any signs of stopping, lawyers have no reason to care about the outcome of the cases they’re paid to bring forth. In fact, if their income has no contingency with the outcome of their work, they have a strong motive to lose: it costs real money to assemble a winnable case; it’s much cheaper to scrounge up a little dog and pony show to satisfy the client.
Jolyon’s “client” is a crowd of gullible bleeding-heart liberals who will reliably reach for their chequebooks no matter how poor Jolyon’s track record is in court. His lawsuits are shams. He’s a joke. Good Law Project is a moneymaking scheme.
In a just world, he’d be disbarred for vexatious litigation. Now that would be a case even I would donate to.
There are always credulous donors. The convicted sexual predator is now selling $299 tennis shoes with an image of his bleeding ear. There will be thousands sold.
