Donald Trump doesn’t vow to be a dictator on day one. To claim he does is a lie. Some of the things he vows to do are things that a dictator would do, but that’s not the same thing. P->Q [if P, then Q] doesn’t entail Q->P [if Q, then P]. It’s the same error made when reasoning from, “that’s what a racist would say.”
Likewise, Kamala doesn’t vow to be a communist dictator on day one. To claim she does is a lie. Some of the things she vows to do are things that a communist dictator would do, but that’s not the same thing.
If you don’t like it when Musk pulls that rhetorical trick, you shouldn’t like it when Kamala does it.
But Trump did say that he would be a dictator on day one. It may have been a joke or it may have been a ‘joke’ but there’s no denying that he said it.
Trump then repeated his assertion. “I love this guy,” he said of the Fox News host. “He says, ‘You’re not going to be a dictator, are you?’ I said: ‘No, no, no, other than day one. We’re closing the border and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.’”
1) It’s a satirical take on the Kamala Harris Tweet that it is responding to.
2) Musk has accused Kamala of being a “communist” owing to her lauding of equal-outcomes “equity”, which she has defined as meaning “we all end up in the same place”. (Any actual attempt to implement that, if she is actually serious, would be pretty similar to communism.)
3) Everyone viewing the Tweet would realise that it is a satirical, AI-generated image, and that she doesn’t actually wear that uniform. That’s sufficiently obvious to not need stating.
4) There’s also an element of “if you’re going to make Tweets like that one then so am I”.
5) Musk often makes light-hearted, flippant and satirical Tweets (including on serious subjects).

I would argue that this is all he does. I’m sure he wants everyone to think of them as enigmatic, short bursts of genius, and as much as I try, I can’t see it for anything other than it is — drivel.
Well Coel when you’re done fellating Musk (a man who I empathize with much more than the general commentariat here), care to explain why electing Donald Trump again is not a horrifically bad idea? Figured while you’re in the neighborhood defending your idol may as well…
Obama was called a “socialist,” a “Marxist” and a “communist” by many of his opponents, too. They weren’t joking. Ted Nugent famously declared that he himself would be “dead or in jail” if Obama was re-elected.
Yeah, you called that one, Nuge.
I guess Obama was just too busy setting up his Death Panels to lock you up, or have you executed. (Or, maybe he just didn’t know who you were.)
Given Trump’s horrible character and record, It’s much more difficult to exaggerate the threat that he represents. There’s no need to make shit up. Democrats would have to be a lot more outrageously, inventively hyperbolic to match the kind of paranoid delusionality that was flung at Obama, and now Harris.
Coel @ 9, I didn’t say I wanted an explanation, I said I was sure you could explain. Of course I don’t “really want” explanations from you, because they’re so…what they are.
But then (based on what she’s said) electing Kamala Harris is also a bad idea.
I do not believe they are equally “bad.” I would argue that (based on what he’s already done) electing Trump is worse. Much worse. Your man Musk doesn’t seem to think it’s such a bad idea, given his endorsement.
So, Coel, who do you propose that is good enough to meet your high standards for president? Should it be you? Or Elon Musk? Or maybe Honey Boo Boo?
Given the choices, I would say Kamala Harris is the obvious choice. And I certainly don’t think she will be equally ‘bad’ and maybe not ‘bad’ at all.
After all, how many politicians actually do what they say they’re going to do? Reality hits hard when you become president…unless, of course, your name is Trump. (My fingers wanted to type turnip; perhaps it’s appropriate).
“Can you believe she wears that outfit?”
No.
WTF is his point? What a stupid, clown question.
I’m sure Coel can explain.
No, we can’t believe it because it’s phony. Your cosplay profile pic is so much better!

Did I say I liked it?
*shrug*
I’m just doing theory of mind to answer the question, “WTF is his point?”
The accuracy of the point is a different matter entirely.
Free speech “absolutist” uses his own selectively policed social media platform to promulgate fake images. And how dare you suggest he self-censor!
@Ophelia:
If you really want an explanation:
1) It’s a satirical take on the Kamala Harris Tweet that it is responding to.
2) Musk has accused Kamala of being a “communist” owing to her lauding of equal-outcomes “equity”, which she has defined as meaning “we all end up in the same place”. (Any actual attempt to implement that, if she is actually serious, would be pretty similar to communism.)

5) Musk often makes light-hearted, flippant and satirical Tweets (including on serious subjects).
Is that sufficient explanation?
I would argue that this is all he does. I’m sure he wants everyone to think of them as enigmatic, short bursts of genius, and as much as I try, I can’t see it for anything other than it is — drivel.

Side note: do you just have a Google alert for “butterfliesandwheels” + “Musk” set up on your phone? You never seem to show up for anything else.
