All about him
Hey no biggy, just slashing some bitch who said no.
An EastEnders actor who slashed a woman with a knife after she turned down his sexual advances has been spared jail.
Oh well thank fuck for that. How dare she say no to his sexual advances?
Harry Rafferty, 34, flew into a “rage” and threatened to kill the woman during a confrontation at a friend’s home in Camden. He threw punches and slashed the woman across the stomach, chest and both sides of her face with a knife.
Which is a very natural and forgivable thing to do.
At Wood Green crown court, Judge David Aaronberg KC handed Rafferty a two-year jail sentence and agreed to suspend it, in part because of court delays and a lack of prison places.
“I don’t want to lock you up but you have got to get your life sorted out,” said the judge. “You have a drinking problem, and you are drinking in the last chance saloon.”
Yes it’s all about his life. The life of the woman he punched and slashed is so much garbage.
In a victim impact statement, the woman said that afterwards she lost friends, felt suicidal and became afraid to leave her own home.
Rafferty sobbed as he was sentenced earlier this month, telling the judge: “I’m deeply remorseful, I really am.”
Judge Aaronberg criticised him for pleading not guilty to the assault charge, in the face of “overwhelming” evidence, and subjecting the woman to cross- examination at trial.
So he’s not really all that remorseful, is he.
The prison overcrowding problem in the UK is truly dire (probably better than ours, but they actually sort of pretend to care about it). Probably the most significant factor here.
If the prison overcrowding issue in the UK is that dire, then they should stop locking up people for non-violent crime such as failure to pay fines, so that they have room for the violent men doing shit like the stuff in the post.
He should be locked up for decades.
I’ve gotten the impression that they’re mostly not locking up the petty criminals for any appreciable length of time and they’ve not even got room for violent offenders if they’re insufficiently hard. Can’t see locking him up that long in any case without knowing more of his history, but it’s clear he can’t be trusted to be a peaceable drunk.
Grievous bodily harm can get a life sentence.
More to the point, why are you trivializing slashing a woman in the face and body as failing to be a “peaceable drunk.” That would be appropriate for singing Bad Moon Rising in the middle of the street at 3 a.m.; for multiple stab wounds, not so much.
He has given her a life sentence: she and her life will never be the same.
Let somebody else out of the overcrowded prison; he deserves to be IN. Two years in prison is next to nothing, given what he has done. No prison is literally nothing.
Well put.
Build more prisons if the excuse for letting violent criminals out is overcrowding in the existing prisons.
There’s no money for it and prisons are always on the back burner as far as the public is concerned. I personally want to expand incarceration to ridiculous levels because quarantining recidivists serves a vital instrumental function.
It really all depends what you think the justice system is for and what purpose you think a sentence of any length or severity is supposed to serve. Also important: who is a crime committed against? Is it the victim or is it the state whose laws have been violated?
If the justice system is revenge for victims and her life has been taken away, why not kill him? I can see the argument for that; certainly not likely to re-offend. Is it to remind others that the state is watching and will not be snubbed? Is it to prevent recidivism? To protect the populace from someone known to be dangerous? Also, what is likely to be the result of the punishment?
No sir.
Attempted rape makes you a rapist. Not a potential rapist, an actual rapist. A violent coward, who assaulted a woman less physically powerful than him with a weapon, and tried to rape her. Antisocial behavoir points to sociopathy.
Not merely a drinking problem. In Vino Veritas means this is who you are even when sober. Alcohol was the catalyst, not the problem.
