It’s a trifle awkward for the Graun. They were clearly hoping for gory stories about 4chan and Andrew Tate fans and similar easy uncomplicated baddies. Instead, I’m looking at those tweets (on main) and every single reply is “Owen Jones, the misogyny is coming from inside the house”. Every one.
Mike @11, this is one of the ways Twitter is dying. Ex-Twitter people said it wouldn’t suddenly go down, it would just become less and less functional due to random changes being made to a complex beast, things breaking that the remaining staff didn’t understand, and Musk’s bizarre decision to reduce the number of servers being hired.
I’ve seen prolific content creators saying that their engagement stats have plummeted. A very common complaint is that followers just don’t see posts any more. Increasingly, the people who create the content are moving to other platforms. I guess we’ll go through a period of chaos before a new clear winner shines through.
Worth noting twitter has changed to default to “For you” view rather than “Following” view, and defaults every time you go back to Twitter. So unless you explicitly choose “Following” every time you go back to Twitter, you are only seeing tweets chosen by the twitter algorithm.
Poor Owen, and here he’s been thinking all along that he’s the most enlightened bloke on earth. Those third-degree reality burns must sting.
I’d put money on Owen going full “it be those terf bitches fault”.
Rob, nobody in their right mind would take that bet. He’ll be blaming it on all the “terf bitches” before the night is out.
Rain on a man’s parade why don’t you James! I was hoping for an early retirement.
How do I get to the replies? Clicking on the link just takes me to the Guardian’s question.
Athel, you click where it says “Read 1.3K replies” (YMMV).
That starts off with the lovely, succinct “By your writers or more generally?”

OJ is trending on Twitter as we speak, and of course all the tweets are in reply to The Graun’s Reckless Question.
I wonder if Suzanne Moore has a comment in there, too, a needle in the haystack that will surely poke when it’s found.
Mike Haubrich, I found it by going to her Twitter:

What’s irritating is that I follow her, and I didn’t see this. Twitter wants me to see other things, I guess.
Mike Haubrich @ #9
You bet she has.
