In what universe does your journalist think it unworthy of mention that, until very recently, Green Party candidate Melissa Poulton was a Conservative Party candidate called Matthew Viner. After explaining the concept of the horseshoe effect to my husband this morning, I read the comment from Sonderval to him, and he got it immediately (of course). We don’t often discuss politics; there’s always far too much else to talk and laugh about. This afternoon I told him about this, and he thought that it’s insane that it’s happening in Britain. I wonder what he’ll say later when I explain that politicians here are debating bringing in a law which would make it illegal to call a man “a man”.
