Uncle Ben’s converted rice
Why do this?
Really: why? Why send a man who is a walking talking smirking parody of women to talk to a woman about her novel about an adolescent girl? Why do that? What is the point? The only point that springs to mind is to mock and belittle and taunt women. So…why do that?

Isn’t the real question: Why would Judy Blume do this? Or maybe: How could Judy Blume do this?
Well, that’s a question too, but I’m assuming it was the brainchild of her publishers or their publicity department or some institutional set of that kind, rather than being her personal idea that she personally put into action. I’m interested in why that set of people thinks this is good and/or necessary.
Yeah, Dame Edna was better. (At least Barry Humphries could be funny.)
Penance for saying somewhat supportive things about J K Rowling in a Hadley Freeman article
Apparently Lionsgate Films sent Blume to chat to DM, in order to promote LF’s adaption of Blume’s “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.”
But the weird thing is….*lots* of people find Mulvaney very irritating. Some trans people dislike him, believing he makes all trans people look bad by association.
Some TRAs who would be strongly opposed to our ideas still dislike Mulvaney, considering him a grifter. And the offline public either doesn’t know who he is or finds him obnoxious. So I’ve no idea why they paired Blume with him.
