This guy?
Inching toward progress maybe?
I googled NRU Stoney Creek v Fergus and found a video of a match, which I shared, but she replied to say that’s the wrong match. Why not link to the right match then? I don’t know. I can’t tell if she’s playing games or just unfamiliar with how to share information on Twitter.
A first-time commenter called “anon” provided this link, which does seem to fit.
Props btw for trying to get the facts before committing to an opinion on this, Mrs Benson!
I find this quite refreshing in this age where so many seem to be incapable of anything but shooting from the hip.
As to myself, I landed here quite by accident while I was trying to investigate the same story. I read your blog entry, and after I found that video – which I hope is really from the game in question – I though I’d share it with you.
Frankly, I had you categorized as “random internet person with a blog” before digging a bit deeper.
The first thing I noticed was your funny reference to Mary Midgley, who to me will probably forever stay “that British philosopher who attacked Dawkins’ book ‘The Selfish Gene’ with the ‘argument’ that ‘that would be a horrible world to live in’ (possibly paraphrased)”. Then I saw you used to be on “Freethought Blogs” and my first thought was “Omg, I hope she’s not one of PZ’s crowd”, because I think he is a despicable little bully. Seems I got lucky on that one, too. =)
So anyways, good luck with the story, I hope you can unearth the missing facts eventually!
I suppose I’ll be back to have a gander.
Best regards
Thanks anon!
I’m not sure I really deserve much credit though – it wasn’t even really about verification when I first asked for more information, it was just about needing more information. What match, where, when? Why is this story so lacking in details? Then when she refused to supply any details the verification issue took center stage.
Well after all I am random internet person with a blog. Sums up the human condition, in a way.
I hope I can dig up the missing facts too!
A pleasure to meet you.
The video’s unfortunately private now.
I know, alas.
