They were all out of their depth
Encouraging.
What a momentous day for everyone who cares about the rights & interests of LGB people, women and children in the UK. 4 years ago, most MPs thought self-ID was about being “kind” to a tiny vulnerable minority. They thought banning “conversion therapy” would help “LGBT” people./1

It was as if her opponents had not read a single scientific article on the impact of puberty blockers on bone density and brain development, for instance, on the homophobia helping to drive youth “transition” and other key issues. They were all out of their depth./3

And when she finally said, with passion but steely determination, “Stonewall does not decide the laws in this country!” I didn’t know whether to cheer or to weep in relief./5

I listened to her entire speech and answers to questions on YouTube earlier this evening. It was just as if a grown-up had walked in on a bunch of bullies, threatening people in the dark, and turned on the light; especially compared to previous politicians’ equivocal behaviour on this matter. Every answer was fact-based and
sensible, and she refused to be cowed or derailed by the opposition (not party-politcal, but ideological) – who, I noted, had no coherent response. Just insults and epithets, as is usual for that crowd.
In an aside, an article from Pink News of all things appeared in my Facebook feed this afternoon. I have never before blocked an account with such alacrity!
