Sir look up
God I wish a meteorite would drop on him. I see in the news a meteorite just punched a hole in the roof of a house in Hopewell, New Jersey. I grew up a few miles from Hopewell. I feel a kinship with this meteorite. I urge it to send a message to its comrades to aim for Trump until they score.
He tells about 17 lies in that one clip, and gets about 50 things wrong.
Send. that. meteorite.
Wrong preposition, Trump swears at his children.
“Mr. President! Mr. President!” Ugh, I hate that tradition. The presidency is an office, not a lifetime appointment. There’s only one US president at a time, and it’s not Clinton or Obama or Bush. It’s bad enough when it’s used with those guys, but when Trump is called “Mr. President” it just plays into his mythology. Like so much about him, it’s nauseating, and unnecessary.
He also told her she’s a “nasty person” for pressing him on the Election Lie.
He’s such an excellent judge of who is nasty and who isn’t.
God I wish we could stop being plagued by this festering boil of a man. KEEL OVER already.
Which Hopewell? :)
I used to work for a software/IT company that serviced at least 3 Hopewells in NJ.
Well, it’s the one where the Lindberghs lived.
I’m with Mike Pesca, he’s the presumptive nominee of the other party in the race and it’d be weird not to have a town hall type thing. If we needed a reminder what a piece of shit he is, it was there for all to see…
The presumptive nominee? No he’s not. He may presume he is, but we don’t have to.
The election isn’t next fall or next year, it’s a year and a half away. He could be in prison by then, or mercifully buried on the golf course next to the first victim.
Well sure, if he’s dead he’ll cease to be a problem and CNN fucked everything about this up, but hosting the event in of itself wasn’t unreasonable.
I really hope they get better supervision on the scene of anyone bothers doing anything like this again, maybe some stoic, well spoken man mountain with a confident baritone voice.
The “million years” bit in the second clip is hilarious: look at the way he qualifies it with a give-or-take clause, because he genuinely thinks that that’s a bit like a natural scientist putting error-bars on a graph (or, at least, that’s what he would think, if he knew anything about error bars). He’s pulled a number out of his arse, and then decided that it’s an estimate just like a scientific estimate – and, correspondingly, that if there’s a problem, it’s simply one of granularity.
Fantastic stuff.
And there’s laughter, and he pretends he meant to be funny.
I actually do blame CNN and do think they were unreasonable to host the event. All they’ve done is normalise someone who has twice been impeached, once for attempting to overthrow the Republic. He faces multiple criminal investigations, and has repeatedly demonstrated himself to be not only unfit for office, but unfit for any sort of decent society. As Charlie Sykes said last week, people who will vote for trump and love him as President would never want to have some other person who did the identical things as their accountant, kids teacher, Uber driver, or boss.
The specific problem with the CNN show was that it ws a format that was always going to play into Trumps strength as the king of Reality TV. Utterly impossible to restrain him or fact check him live (they did try, but failed). they didn’t even attempt to get a crowd that was a mix of voters from different backgrounds. It wasn’t even truely undecided voters. it was just devoted trump supporters.
If they had insisted on a one on one interview format with no audience they could have held trump to account on topic after topic by refusing to move on until questions were answered. Thing is, Trump would not have agreed to attend. he’s had that kind of interview once or twice and been torn to shreds. He’s a bully and a coward, but that kind are smart enough to play to their strengths.
CNN opted to get ratings and to provide entertainment TV instead of proper political current affairs. They should be pilloried for it. As should any other outlet that repeats the mistake. If trump wants to run for President again he should be covered by media, but also held to account, not normalised and his awful positions minimised and made funny.
Ophelia, since you wish for it so hard, have some fun playing with this (https://neal.fun/asteroid-launcher/). I did a few months ago. It’s an interesting exercise trying to find just the right size and type of asteroid to guarantee that you can take out a building the size of, say, a resort, without also wiping out a few tens of thousands of innocent people.
