Outrage sparked again
How dare a woman say that men shouldn’t take women’s scholarships?
Anti-Trans Swimmer Slammed After Causing Trans Teen To Lose Volleyball Scholarship
That is, woman yelled at after she points out that a boy won a scholarship intended for girls. The boy didn’t “lose” anything; he was never entitled to that scholarship, because it’s for girls.
Peter Karleby writes:
Anti-trans swimmer Riley Gaines has once again sparked outrage after her public campaign against a trans high school student resulted in the teen’s college scholarship being revoked.
That is, Riley Gaines “sparked outrage” in a male journalist after she pointed out that a scholarship for girls had been awarded to a boy.
It’s unclear how Gaines knew about the teen, but she took to X, aka Twitter, last week to write a cruel screed against the student, outing and misgendering her, revealing her identity with a photo, and calling on UW to revoke her scholarship.
A cruel screed is it? What about the cruelty of a male student stealing a scholarship intended for a female student?
Gaines claims that the student and her parents deceived the university by concealing her trans identity. Disclosing someone else’s sexual or gender identity without their consent is considered illegal harassment under Washington law.
So males who claim to be trans get to cheat while everyone else has to keep his secret? Why would that be?
Gaines’ supposed concerns about athletic fairness are likely not even valid. The teen is thought to have transitioned before puberty, meaning she never developed any of the supposed athletic advantages anti-trans agitators advocate against.
The “supposed” athletic advantages. Riley’s “supposed” concerns about fairness. What would it take to convince him of the reality?
Those advantages have yet to be proven substantive, even in cases of transition after puberty, according to the limited research on the topic.
Substantive? What are you trying to say, Lassie? Do you mean substantial? Real? Significant?
Anyway, whatever he’s trying to say, he’s trying to say it by lying outrageously. Two words: Lia Thomas.
FTFY. FFS. JFC.
And who is Peter Karleby?
We can hope that pieces like this will find him “not working” more, so that he can spend his time polishing up his repertoire so as to include the entire Madonna canon.
Limited research, indeed. Why? Because trans activists shut down all attempts to research trans advantage. I wonder why that would be? Perhaps they have some glimmer of the truth…that men have natural advantages over women in athletics.
As for transitioned before puberty. One, that shouldn’t be happening. A child should not be committed to a lifelong medical nightmare. Two, who the fuck cares? He is male. His ‘transition’ did nothing to change that. He is still male.
Perhaps Peter Karleby should spend a little of his not working time reading the next post on this blog…and the unsurprising findings of research into the topic.
Karleby is exactly the sort of person who would shut down any such research, or shout down its results as “transphobic.” He’s doing it right here by branding Gaines as “anti-trans” for stating facts. I think we can safely conclude that Karleby is anti-woman.
Thanks for the addition, not Bruce.
Again, Riley Gaines is going off targeting individuals; she sucks and y’all need a better hero to elevate than her. Methods and principles matter. Obviously the gender goblins shouldn’t be allowed to get away with things, but the power imbalance here is clear (Lia Thomas obviously has sufficient public status and most of Riley Gaines’ power is his doing).
Yes, the power imbalance is clear – the lying boy and his lying parents had an inbuilt advantage against the honest girl he would have deprived of a well-deserved scholarship.
Of course it comes down to ‘targeting individuals’; it’s individuals who are taking advantage of the confusion surrounding the whole ‘let males pretend to be female’ situation to cheat.
Blood Knight in Sour Armor, how would you rectify the situation so that the girl who ought to have been given the scholarship in the first place doesn’t miss her chance, without calling that cheating boy out?
Sorry, I’m still seething. Riley Gaines is a young woman who had her entire career scuppered by a cheating man, and here comes a man saying that she shouldn’t stand up for other young women and girls against other cheats?
WHY NOT‽
She has been treated appallingly, yet is bravely fighting back despite hordes of raving lunatics threatening her. Good for her, and I hope she makes more allies. Too right she’s a hero for women.
WHAT POWER‽
NO NEED TO BE SORRY. NONE AT ALL.
You lot get upset when Trump does the same fucking thing but when some other vile human being happens to target the people you don’t like it’s fine. I also like it when bad things happen to people I don’t like but I don’t pretend I’m virtuous in doing so. Gaines has a mega legitimate grievance against Lia Thomas and his enablers, but she can’t touch him, so instead she brings down the wrath of her followers on some retarded kid and his parents (who are definitely in the wrong, but almost certainly undeserving of the pile on). The irony in all this is that her follower count only matters because of that prick, someone who will almost certainly *never* get what’s coming to him.
Somehow, just somehow I can manage to understand the idea that someone can be a victim of a great injustice and a bullying little shit at the same time. Ends do not justify means.
Ok first of all “y’all need a better hero to elevate than her” is just insulting. She’s not my “hero”; I’m not sure I have any, and if I do they’re not made evident by my occasionally posting about their activities. Second, why shouldn’t I post about boys and men cheating women out of prizes and scholarships? Third, power imbalance? Seriously? So female athletes shouldn’t object to males stealing their scholarships and prizes and opportunities unless the males in question are famous and rich and powerful?
Oh I left out the “I don’t pretend I’m virtuous in doing so.”
Another insult. I don’t “pretend I’m virtuous.” I know damn well I’m not. This isn’t about “virtue.” What a snotty condescending clueless thing to say.
