More crap journalism
A somewhat less blatantly partisan news article on the LWS rally in the Irish Examiner, but only somewhat, and not for long.
Hundreds of campaigners took part in rallies on opposing sides of the transgender debate in Dublin on Saturday.
Well, yes, but to be clear, the Let Women Speak rally was scheduled and then the “opposing” rally was added to the day’s festivities. It seems that a lot of people just can’t stand to see women getting together to say let us speak.
A large garda presence was visible in and around Merrion Square for the two events and metal barriers were erected to create a space between the rival demonstrations.
Again, making it sound like a football match or a race – like an event where you expect two sides. It wasn’t that though, it was women talking and people who want them to shut up trying to make them shut up. They weren’t really “rival demonstrations”; they were a rally and an attempt to shut down the rally.
The counter demo organised by Trans and Intersex Pride Dublin assembled outside the Dail on Kildare Street ahead of marching to Merrion Square.
Leading pro-trans activist Jenny Maguire told the crowd: “We as queer people are forced into a world that’s not meant for us.
“We do everything we can to force a world that accepts us and that can love us all unapologetically, and it is them that wants to reverse any progress we’ve made so far and pull us back into the Dark Ages.”
She added: “Trans people aren’t going anywhere.”
Funnily enough there is no matching bit where any of the women who want to speak are quoted. Jenny Maguire is quoted for Team Shut Up, but Posie Parker and Graham Linehan are just reported as being there. Why do the people who object to women speaking get to speak while the people who think women should be allowed to speak don’t get to speak?
At Merrion Square, the trans campaigners chanted and played loud disco music in a bid to drown out speakers addressing the crowd at the Let Women Speak event on the other side of the metal barriers.
Linehan chatted and posed for selfies with well-wishers at the Let Women Speak rally.
The trans campaigners tried to drown out the speaking women, while Glinner chatted with people, yet somehow the trans campaigners are treated lovingly by the reporter while the talking women and Glinner are not. What do women have to do to get fair coverage?
Finally at the very end he gets to say something.
He criticised the rival event. “I just want to kind of expose them for trying to silence women and that’s why I’m here,” he said.
The writer said the vast majority of people agreed with his position on the trans issue. “It’s only a few extremists who
don’tthink that women shouldn’t have their own sports and their own private spaces,” he added.
At least he got the last word.
In other words, they didn’t let women speak, but did let a man speak for Let Women Speak. Typical.
At least he’s on the GC side; I’m surprised they didn’t get McKinnon or someone like that to speak for the LWS.
To the TAs, they are the “We,” and women and other normal people who know what sex is are the “them” (they) who are supposedly trying to put T “back into the Dark Ages.” It’s exactly backwards, and such a fecking lie. It’s so exasperatingly tiresome.
Women have fought for a couple of centuries to have even a modicum of the rights and freedoms that men take for granted. What little women have is being actively destroyed by men and their co-conspirators. It’s unbelievable how many women are on board with men taking away women’s safety, women’s privacy, women’s right to be in public, women’s voices. It’s men and their enablers who are doing their damnedest to reverse any progress women have made, and to pull women back into the dark ages.
Is forcing the world to love them one of those trans ‘rights’ they’re always yelling about? Personally, I’d say that it’s nigh on impossible to force any one person to genuinely love another person, so good luck with getting all eight billion of us to fawn over them and sprinkle rose petals before them everywhere they walk. Idiots!
Seriously, trying to force love is a tactic employed by needy, attention-seeking children, abusive adults – usually (though not always) male adults – who refuse to accept that the object of their desires has no interest in returning their feelings, and dictators/cult leaders. They have yet to learn that love, like respect, has to be earned, not forced. Often the children grow out of their neediness, but there seems to be no cure for the others.
On the subject of crap journalism:
That annoys me more than it probably should, but it’s everywhere these days. He posed with well-wishers for photographs, not selfies. A selfie is a photograph that one takes of oneself and I highly doubt that Linehan went home from the event with his phone full of snapshots of himself with well-wishers.
It is this obviously slanted reporting that causes me to question the validity of the entire trans narrative.
I know that most of the people in my social circles who agree with the trans narrative aren’t paid agents of the transexual empire. They honestly think they’re on the side of right. Whether some similar motive takes possession of these journalists’ typing fingers and causes them to write such biased coverage, or whether they know what they’re doing, … well, I can’t say.
An organisation known as Trans & Intersex Pride Dublin posted pictures of the ‘counter protest’ in Dublin, and among the flags are those of the Soviet Union, various ‘hammer and sickle and trans’ mash-up flags, and a flag with Vladimir Lenin’s face on it! Now, these flags are considered offensive to some, especially for people in Eastern Europe and most notably, for Ukrainians.
Ophelia, are you aware that the link in your opening sentence goes to a vicious hit-job on PP on the Irish Socialist Party’s website rather than to the Irish Examiner?
The headline to the piece is ‘Who is Posie Parker and why you should protest the “Let Women Speak” event in Dublin’; and the article itself is full of lies and abject stupidity.
One example of each, starting with stupidity. This is from the opening paragraph:
For the love of God, how oblivious is that? The protests have nothing to do with the legality of the LWS speeches and everything to do with not liking it when the truth is being told about their mass delusion. Oh, and isn’t it odd how the Trans & Intersex Pride organisation is mentioned without comment despite being obviously exclusive? Everything must include the trans but the trans are allowed to exclude everything but themselves (I don’t believe that the T&IP are at all about intersex; that inclusion is just so much window dressing).
As for the lies, this is far from the first, but it’s a doozy:
A collaborator who allowed neo-Nazis to support her rally? That’s borderline slander given the known and well-publicised facts of the neo-Nazis’ presence on that day.
What?!! No, of course not,
Fixed.
AoS @ 3 – that “we want to force the world to love us” thing is so consistent with the massive narcissism that is the core of the whole ideology. Me me me me me me me is the whole point of it. That, along with the hatred of women, is why it’s such a horrible parody of a progressive movement.
AoS @ 3
I assume Linehan posed so that other people could take selfies (of themselves) with him in the picture. Sometimes people do hand the camera/phone to someone else to snap, but often enough they extend their arm or use a stick and take the photo themselves. “Photographs” would have been better, certainly, but “selfies” probably covers a large portion of the cases.
“Forced love” is what YHWH/Trinity God/Allah demand. Christopher Hitchens used to point out the inherent contradiction in being required to love someone whom you’re also made to fear. Shows how T is just another religion.
maddog, #11: I was thinking about the religious aspect of forced love earlier. The connection between the Abrahamic religions and trans ideology is clear, albeit with one striking difference; with the Abrahamic religions, the gods alone demand to be loved or else, and promise rewards or punishments respectively (Mohammed makes no such demands, his revered status is demanded by the Imams). With the trans movement, however, each individual demands to be loved (without the promise of the rewards offered by the gods), so in a very real sense trans ideology is a religion in which every member is a deity.
