Living proof
Again with the confusion between existence and self-description.
A woman who pretends to be a man gets pregnant.
So far so unsurprising.
(It would be surprising if she’d been trapped alone on a desert island for the past 10 months or so. Or if she’d been locked in a room alone ditto or some other such scenario in which it would have been physically impossible to be impregnated. Barring that – no surprise.)
The woman says she’s “a pregnant trans man” and that no matter what anyone says, she’s “living proof.”
Of what?
She’s living proof that a woman can say she’s a trans man, I suppose, but we already knew women can do that, so why it’s on the cover of a magazine is anyone’s guess.
If she means it’s living proof that she’s a man…
…she’s left out a few steps in the argument.
“Trans. Pregnant. Proud.”
Proud of what? Being pregnant? I thought that the whole argument of BE[ING] KIND to “trans” people was that they were so embarrassed of the peculiarities of their sex that it made them suicidal. So how is this woman proud to be pregnant? Or does “proud” just mean “celebrating the month-long holiday known as Pride.”
Living proof of her struggle against reality.
But she’s painted wearing a suit! She must be a man, right?
Of course it could be argued (if you want to be clever and all) that her “manliness” is a thin, superficial thing that is easily smudged, and that it fails to change (or hide) the fundamental, biological reality of her sex.
but…but….I read over at Mano Singham (whose blog an commentariat I generally like) that an episode of Dr. Who from 1972 referred to an alien hexapod of diverse biology which PrROVES TQ+ is real and long recognized!!!
Queue TRAs insisting that “Yes, and Demi Moore is also a man!”
@Brian
That alien was referred to explicitly as an “hermaphrodite hexapod” (I remember these things) which proves that I have four legs.
