I’m hoping someone here can help me out. I’ve got into an argument on Quora with a woman who insists That ‘transsexual’ refers to a specific subset of trans people. She won’t go into details. Apparently it’s one of those things that has always been true (even if it was made up yesterday) and you’re expected to just know it if you don’t want to be judged ignorant. Though apparently I’ve gone beyond merely ignorant for refusing to acknowledge that trans people are the most vulnerable etc. Still I’d like to be in possession of the facts before I reply. Any ideas?
Francis, I think “transsexual” refers to someone who has had all the surgeries in order to appear like the other sex, while a “trans” or “transgender person” just has to declare their “gender identity.”
Some old school transsexuals, like Debbie Hayton and Buck Angel, are quite gender critical. They disdain transgenderism and do not claim to be the sex they’re not.
I think that’s what’s confusing me. I had thought that due to people like Buck Angel ‘transsexual’ had become a taboo word among trans people. They’ve certainly been at the receiving end of an enormous amount of vitriol. But now it seems the word is permitted again. So I’m wondering if it’s not an indicator some new strategy that’s suddenly been adopted by the trans lobby, which I need to know about. They certainly need a new strategy now that the shouting is no longer working.
Fantastic video. Wonderful sense of rhythm. I like the joining of barely controlled anger with that prim “fuming” or the condescending, threatening “penetrates”: every utterance here expresses aggression in different ways, and that aggression really stands out when yuxtaposed. As well as the ridiculousness.
I’m not really a fan of the songs (just not my thing) but this is brilliant cutting right to the heart of the matter. Subscribed on Youtube and whatever the hell it is you do on Twitter.
That’s hilarious!
I especially enjoy the Special Guest Appearance by India Willoughby.
Mr Menno is a treasure.
I’ve played this about three times, already.
Have youse all seen his “Y Chromosome” (sung to the tune of “YMCA”)?

That’s a great one!
I like his recent Lady Gaga parody about Amanda J Knox:
