He’s 18; they’re 14
Wisconsin Public Radio reports:
The U.S. Department of Education is opening an investigation into whether the Sun Prairie Area School District failed to report sexual harassment following an incident this spring involving a transgender student in a girls’ locker room.
Note the usual obfuscation – a transgender student who is male, they mean but carefully don’t say.
Dawn Matthias with the department’s Office for Civil Rights sent a letter to the conservative law firm, the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty, on Wednesday, confirming the Title IX investigation.
So the progressive law firms think girls should just shut the fuck up about boys in their locker rooms? What’s progressive about that?
WILL filed a complaint against the district in June alleging the school district violated Title IX rules in March, when, according to the law firm, four 14-year-old freshman girls at East High School were exposed to the genitalia of an 18-year-old senior who is transgender.
That is, the school forced them to share their locker room with an 18-year-old boy, on the grounds that he claims to be a girl. That doesn’t sound at all progressive to me.
Lux said the Sun Prairie Area School District does not condone “any student of one sex being present in a state of undress in the presence of students of another sex on school property, or a student of one sex showering in the presence of students of another sex.”
“What happened in this incident was not in line with our district’s practices,” Lux said.
So it’s not school policy to let boys who claim to be girls use the girls’ locker room?
Really?

I’ve copied part of the following from a comment in the miscellany room.
Maybe we can remind transactivists again (as they so like to remind us when it suits them) that “sex” and “gender” are not the same, and that locker room facilities are segregated by sex alone. Being “transgender” does not change one’s sex, and males remain male however they “identify.” “Gender identities” don’t change clothes, or run races, or swim laps, or ride bicycles; sexed bodies do. One’s “gender identity” has no bearing on the facilities and positions one is allowed to access, if they were originally apportioned on the basis of sex. You can play around with word meanings, but you can’t change sex.
I can hardly wait for the court case. We’ll get all the usual bullshit. Chase Strangio will weigh in and remind us all that TWAW! CLAP*CLAP*CLAP*CLAP*CLAP! and that because of this, the 18 year old is a girl. This legal effort will be characterised as part of a wider, sinister right-wing plot to ban trans participation in sports altogether. There will be pointed questions about why the girls didn’t turn away, or why they are gender-policing, and staring at others’ genitalia?
Demands for this guy to keep his dick out of the girls’ locker room will be characterised as “hateful” and “transphobic.” We’ll be told that using the boys’ facilities makes the 18 year old young man “uncomfortable,” and that it is not “safe” for him to do so. The girls’ discomfort and concern for their safety in the presence of a naked male will be glossed over; their safety and discomfort are irrelevent, because Penis Girl is part of “the most vulnerable” “most marginalized” etc. group there has ever been, and that denying him use of female spaces is like clubbing baby seals, or turning panda bears into throw rugs and bedroom slippers.
Have I missed anything?
Girls? There are lots more of them. “Being kind” is an exercize in character building, and will prepare them for college, where they will be forced to have men on their sports teams and in their locker rooms, and be expected, yet again, to sacrifice their own needs to the desires of men. In other words, perfect training for the “real” world. So suck it up, buttercup! If you don’t let him in, we’re going to punish and humiliate you so much that you’ll wish you had.
Hey, wait. If you’re feeling that pissed off about it, maybe you’re really guys! Here’s the number for a surgeon who’ll give you lots of gender-affirming care. So in the meantime, put on a binder, drop that silly lawsuit and have some T!
Tell them Chase sent you!
Lest anyone think YnnB?’s characterisation of the Strangio take is an exaggeration for effect, here is a comment to an excellent essay which aptly demonstrates this obtuse linguistic derangement in action. The article itself is a discussion of ROGD, and probably no new ground for Ophelia or most of the readers, though it marshalls some arguments and facts that are usually disparate.
One of the main points of contention from the commenter (who I gather from other commenters is a TRA of some notoriety) is that, dialectically, no girl ever takes testosterone HRT — HRT is a medical treatment for trans boys, so of course, if someone is taking it, they are not a girl by definition. Specifically,
Note also that the thoughtcrime of misgendering obtains even when there is no particular subject; that is, one cannot even discuss genderism outside of the genderists’ paradigm without committing blasphemy. This is telling.
From there (and in the follow-on from the OP, somhow taking this response as “respectful”), the obtuseness continues and the whole thing descends into the TRA despairing about definitions. Thankfully, there seems to be a healthy amount of pushback, eye-rolling, and the rhetorical equivalent of making the jack-off motion in this person’s direction — in contrast to the general blogosphere of 2015 to now, where such navel-gazing as the TRA indulges in here would largely be praised or built-upon by blue-haired sophists.
Perhaps we are seeing a sea-change, or perhaps just cultural entropy and technological decentralisation allowing for some actual pluralism again, but either way, it seems like there’s a small creak of hope. But one must never make the mistake of thinking TRAs can be parodied or exaggerated; they are fundamentalist zealots of the gender religion, and there is always one who earnestly believes whatever you might hope to exaggerate.
The part about the influence of porn is interesting too.
