Controversial plans
Transgender women could continue to be allowed to compete in the female category in international track and field under controversial plans drawn up by World Athletics.
No. Just say no. No men in women’s sports. No.
In a move that risks reigniting sport’s toxic trans row, Telegraph Sport can reveal the governing body has begun a consultation with its member federations over a proposed rule change that would stop short of an outright ban.
There’s your problem right there. An “outright ban” should be all there is to it: men should be banned from women’s sport because women’s sport is women’s sport. That’s not something you compromise or bargain or negotiate over, it’s just definitional. Women should be allowed to have things for women without men shoving in and breaking them. Men need to stay in their own damn lane no matter what stupid fantasies they have about their tiresome identities.
Documents seen by the Telegraph show World Athletics’ “preferred option” would instead see a halving of the maximum permitted plasma testosterone for trans women from 5 nanomoles per litre to 2.5 nmol/L and a doubling the period they must remain below that threshold before being allowed to compete from one to two years.
No. Just no. No men. Get out.
Sporting bodies will be encouraged to reach a compassionate position, but one where “fairness and safety” take precedence at elite and competitive level. This could include the creation of new “open” categories for transgender athletes to compete in.
Note the framing. Why is it “compassionate” to trash women’s sports?
Precisely the correct response. Arguing about competitive fairness presumes that there is some level of ability below which it’s appropriate for men to be allowed in women’s sport. There isn’t. A man could be a comatose paraplegic, and it would still be inappropriate for him to participate in women’s sport. It’s women’s sport, not the Pity League.
A woman with that level of testosterone would be eliminated for doping.
Imagine this level of ‘compassion’ for people that have aged out of youth sports, or are too young to compete in older-only sports. We would quickly see that the entire discussion of retention of advantage and whether this constitutes an unfair advantage is a massive red herring. If you age out of the under 17 cricket (or whatever), you are not permitted in no matter how weak and unthreatening your athletic abilities are. If you are too young to enter an over 50 running event, you are too young to enter no matter how much of a couch potato you are.
It doesn’t even matter if you are likely to come dead last. Physical advantage is the basis upon which the division is made, yet once age has been identified as the dividing line between divisions, that is the criterion for exclusion.
We recognise this when the topic is age as a divider between sporting groups. But when the topic is the female sex having something for itself, this goes out the window and suddenly everything is about ‘compassion’ for the men that want to enter anyway.
Oops, I also meant to comment on
Firstly, the men’s is already the open division. The women’s division is protected against male entry for good reason, the men’s is only protected against female entry by habit. There’s no particular need to protect the division against women as they are not entering with an unearned advantage.
But okay, let’s say the men’s is strictly male only. We create a new ‘open’ division for various events to be inclusive. Can anyone guess what the result of this will be? Yes of course you can. This new open division will become a second men’s division for all sports and athletic events except those that emphasise flexibility and artistry over raw physicality. Hooray for the new men’s division, populated solely by men because what the fuck is the point of a woman even bothering.
And even then, trans women specifically will still declare themselves homeless. Do these gormless accomodationist fools really not know this? They will not be bought off with any compromise whatsoever, their goal is full inclusion in anything female-only. The Neville Chamberlains of sport will discover this the hard way when the trans lobby turns on them for asking for a compromise at all.
“Maybe if we let them have the
Sudetenland,er, weightlifting and cycling, they’ll just stop there and go no further. It’ll keep them busy and happy. Maybe they’ll just go away. TheTreaty of Versaillesum I mean the testosterone limits, will keep them in check. It’s not like they’re going to take overall of Europe, uh, the entirety of women’s sport!(Laughter all round).
In conclusion, gentlemen, I think we can have
Peace in our time, um, fairness and inclusion.(Thunderous applause).
