Compliant with equality legislation
Prison officers are being asked to consider the needs of “pregnant people” and “breastfeeding people” in official guidance from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
The MoJ equality analysis policy framework, a publicly available document, gives guidance to prison officers to ensure facilities are compliant with equality legislation.
You can’t make pregnancy and breastfeeding “equal” in the sense of both sexes being equipped to carry them out. Men can’t get pregnant or breastfeed. I hope that clears that up.
Published on April 20 2023, the guidance asks officers to consider: “How are pregnant or breastfeeding people catered for when working/visiting a prison?”
How is it “equality” to erase women?
DON’T SAY WOMEN!!! Mustn’t offend all those TiFs in men’s prisons. You might trigger their dysphoria.*
*A concept which I’ve always found odd. You’ve just had A GODDAMN BABY; YOU’RE NOT A MAN. DEAL.
It would be interesting to get a count of how many TiFs are in men’s prisons. I don’t hear a loud clamor to house them with men according to their gender identity. Gee, I wonder why that might be?

I am sure that issue will be worked out in time, though it will probably still be bubbling along 10,000 years from now.
Anyway, that guidance is most certainly NOT “compliant with equality legislation”, unless the minister is mistaken and Stonewall DOES make the law in the UK.
We can agree that even though men cannot have babies or breastfeed, not having wombs or mammary glands (which is nobody’s fault), they can have the right to have babies and breastfeed.
WaM, Monty Python is always a welcome addition to the discussion.
