Newsflash, OJ. You know who else is defying the expectations attached to the gender sex on our birth certificate? Feminist women, that’s who. We’ve been doing it for years and years and years, decades, centuries. You didn’t invent it, gay men didn’t invent it, trans people sure as hell didn’t invent it. Women too suffer bigotry because we defy those expectations – including yours. You expect us to shut up, to comply, to listen to you instead of ourselves. It’s all very standard, very masculine, very gender expectationsy. You’re not the radical hero you think you are.
it’s that flattening thing again, erasing distinction and difference by moving up one or more levels of generality. The “banning transgender people from sports” line does the same thing. Sometimes a more general description is fine, but it’s often as deceptive as describing a prohibition on convicted child molesters’ adopting children as “banning sexually active adults” from adopting.
Perhaps if Wickes don’t want a boycott, they shouldn’t have sent Fraser Longden to a secret cult summit where he implied that 90% of their customers are stupid, and called the rest bigots.

That said, the “Knights Templar International” are a group of far-right Christian activists with a fondess for medieval regalia (named after the Crusading warmongers), who oppose what they see as their “atheist, globalist and Islamist enemies.” They also sell books promoting the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory.
