Checking the identities
Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters stormed the airport in the Russian city of Makhachkala in the predominantly Muslim region of Daghestan, with some shouting anti-Jewish comments at passengers arriving on a flight from Tel Aviv on October 29.
Riot police arrived at the airport after the disturbances, while the Interior Ministry office in Makhachkala said reinforcements, including National Guard units, were being sent to “ensure the safety” of arriving passengers, according to the Baza Telegram channel.
Anti-Jewish protests have broken out in several cities in the region in the face of Israel’s war with Hamas, rulers of the Palestinian-controlled Gaza Strip.
…
Late on October 29, videos and photos from the scene published by Izvestia indicated that protesters had stormed onto the Makhachkala runway and attempted to gain entry to the incoming plane.
Authorities said the airport was closed for incoming and outgoing flights, while police reportedly began jamming communications in the airport area to prevent the crowd from coordinating further actions.
A local news Telegram channel reported that protesters were trying to check the identities of arriving passengers, attempting to prevent Jews from leaving the airport, including searching police vehicles.
This Israeli-Palestinian issue looks like following in the track of the England-Ireland conflict (itself in a quiescent phase at the moment) and will probably still be boiling away in 1,000 years’ time. By then all participants will have forgotten what started it in the first place; but if you can’t defend it, you don’t own it..
Such is history.
I’ve also heard many hoping Israel incinerates Palestine. Nothing good comes of this. Ape is as ape does.
I don’t think anyone should be surprised that there is anti Jewish feelings in Russia. Not just the Muslims, also the Orthodox, the Communists, the proletariat, and the Peasants.
Is it right? No.
Is it unusual? No.
Your Reverence:
It has suited Russian despots from the tsars to Stalin and on down to Vlad (Dracula) Putin, to divert as much public hostility as possible away from themselves by scapegoating Jews in general for whatever disasters might befall Russia from time to time. This despite the contributions made to Russian life by Jews, arguably the most historically prominent having been the mathematician-turned-revolutionary-leader Leon Trotsky, the founder of the Red Army, who also succeeded in winning the best of the old Tsarist general staff (eg General Rodion Tukhachevsy) over to the Bolshevik side in the civil war that followed on the Revolution of 1917.

Hardly surprising from the land of the stochastic holocaust (aka pogrom). One thing you can never accuse Putin of is failing to understand how power works and has always worked in Russia. Someone told the security services to stand back. Of course it wasn’t Putin. And of course he didn’t have to.
It’s no longer in Putin’s interest to restrain antisemitism in Russia. The new anti-Western alliance formed between Iran and Russia includes not just North Korea but Hamas and Hezbollah, which Russia has moved to funding directly. Instability and corruption are fertile ground for kleptocracy like Putin’s.
Listen to what the Dagestanis are saying: dejected at not finding Jews to murder at the airport, they say if you want to find Jews you have to go to Israel or Kiev.
Putin’s propaganda against Ukraine can simultaneously call its war “denazification” and rooting out the Jews.
