What kind of bodies?
The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary wants to provide period products for…well that’s where it gets tricky.
One of our NURS 289 clinical groups is partnering with The Moss Bag Project to provide period products for the houseless and vulnerable in Calgary! Mulitple donation boxes are in various locations on campus: Professional Faculties Building at the PPE station, Wellness Centre, UofC Bookstore, and TFDL. Donations are accepted from now until November 15th
Useful, helpful. But…
Bleeding bodies.
But don’t you dare claim ‘woman’ refers to the anatomy of a person, that’s biological essentialism.
I mean… tampons are great for nosebleeds, and pads work well in a pinch in place of gauze, but somehow I don’t think they’re trying to target the “makeshift first aid” crowd…
Seriously, though, that’s just… I find don’t have a strong enough adjective to describe how utterly offensive it is to be so dehumanizing. It sounds like they’re talking about corpses, or those soon to be corpses.
The Russians are recommending tampons to their soldiers to ‘support’ their ‘bleeding bodies’ – and I suspect the soldiers are also required to buy them.
The other day Popehat tweeted that he was starting to root for SMOD 2022*. I’m coming around to that way of thinking. For all the wonder, goodness, and beauty of humanity, we just aren’t worthy of this planet.
* Sweet Meteor of Death for those not in the know.
Pam and Dave tell this story about themselves when they had a Toyota Road Runner that was a rough ride and NOISY. Pam recalls on one trip she put a tampon in each ear. They find remembering the sight hilarious.
Well, they’re bodies because what matters is the identity group, not the individual person. Identity groups are the units of structural oppression, after all.
@#3: I suppose a tampon would fit fairly neatly into a bullet hole (entry side only.) For the exit side, you would probobly need something more like a Navy-issue hammock, to be cut down into something suitable. Or at least a sling, as for a broken arm.
“Hand and foot warmers”? Are we not allowed to say “gloves” and “socks” now?
@#3: The video is worth a watch, if only for the woman graphically demonstrating exactly what’s supposed to happen with the tampon.

I literally facepalmed
I was going to say there is a difference between “hand and foot warmers” and “gloves and socks” (the warmers go inside or augment the gloves or socks), but the picture is clearly of gloves.
We can’t be certain how a terminal appendage identifies. If a hand identifies as a foot, it would be biological essentialism to call its warmer a glove.
Hence the German word “Handschuh”.
Product #3: underwear … with a fly opening? What?
I wondered the same thing. Just another stupid insult I guess.
