This is a must-watch – Dennis Kavanagh explaining what the closure of the Tavistock means.
Updating to quote:
Dennis: Mermaids and Co. telling kids they’ve got the wrong bodies and they should hate their bodies – which I consider a cruelty without equal – I don’t know why they’re allowed to maraud around and do that, but they are it would seem – they succeed by pushing lies. You cannot have gender without lies, it needs lies like a fish needs water.
Dennis is always great but he’s brilliantly focused here. Definite must-watch.
Focused and informed and lucidly furious. That last is a very tricky combination, one I’m hopeless at.
I don’t know. Maybe in speech; I haven’t had the pleasure of hearing you give a talk. But in writing? You are about as lucidly furious as anyone I’ve ever read.
Aw thank you. But yes, in speech is what I meant – Dennis can combine rage and icy calm while talking in a way that’s completely beyond me. Obviously a very useful skill for lawyers. An excellent fictional example is James Spader’s character in Boston Legal.
