The same people who
Guy takes it upon himself to try to change the subject from abortion rights to The One Important Subject.
This is about women, and our right to decide whether or not to gestate an infant. Just that, nothing else. It doesn’t need to be about anything else; it’s massively important all by itself.
But clearly way too many people think otherwise. Apparently women are the trivial sex, the silly sex, the sex that doesn’t need the right to make its own choices about its own life. Apparently women always have to have some variety of men added to make their rights seem to matter.
It has nothing to do with trans people but the draft opinion did criticize Lawrence v. Texas (legalized sodomy) and Obergefell v. Hodges (legalized same-sex marriage). Anyway whatever gets more people against this at this point.
I think “legalized sodomy” is quite a pejorative way to describe Lawrence v. Texas.
Sorry was just trying to use formal language rather than something that might get censored. Meant no insult.
Understood. I just saw someone else use that phrase, so I guess it’s going around. It’s my understanding that gay men consider “sodomy” a pseudo-technical pejorative. Sodom is of course a religious reference.
Back during the 2016 election, when I was still hanging around the other place, there was a poster who kept harping in the political threads on how he couldn’t support HRC, because she wanted him dead (somehow through her health policies). He also went on about his spoons, and whether he identified as trans or not (he couldn’t decide). It was all very tiresome, and mostly I ignored it, but I went off on him the night Trump won. Of course he wouldn’t accept any responsibility.
I guess he’ll never have to worry about getting an abortion.
WaM, I think your pronoun choice answers that. ;-)
I won’t have to worry about that, either. I have gone through menopause. I’m glad I’m not so self-centered I think it only matters if it effects me. These narcissists are about to drive me to drinking…or something.
iknklast,
Indeed, I may well be misgendering him, but so what? He had a male name (Jonah?) and a male attitude.
“On a day where we learn 50% of Americans are about to lose their body autonomy, let me marry it to this really divisive distraction thing so as to blunt our response to this emergency.” The fool is just handing power to Republicans by doing this.
I saw a clever sarcastic post noting that transwomen’s rights to abortion would be unaffected.
Oh: I have noted that the vast majority of my liberal circle of friends are not shying away from referring to “women” and “women’s rights” and “war on women”. Much less tendency to use “trans inclusive” language than I expected.
My colleague greeted me this morning with “Blessed be the fruit”. Since he is as much a non-believer as I am, I wasn’t sure what he was talking about…until I remembered he also pays attention to the news. The sarcasm wasn’t readily evident; his sarcasm is sometimes hard to tell from his sincerity.
I like him.
Nope, women can’t have anything just for women. Not even themselves. Women are but a fungible commodity, donchaknow.
