At last, the man says, finally, FINALLY, after all these years dragging ourselves through the sand, longing for water – finally a man steps in to bestow clarity on all this womany screeching.
A yes, a middle ground. Don’t discriminate against trans ppl in housing or jobs, refer politely to them by the pronouns they prefer — but keep in mind the fact that they’re male and so won’t be able to access everything they want. A fair compromise.
Honestly, if it weren’t for the bathroom/prison/statistics/etc issues, I doubt I’d give two farts about pronouns and such. Hell, to be blunt, on a personal level (as opposed to, say, a corporate or governmental policy level), I still don’t. The trans people I know in person (none of whom even approaches the level of fuckery regularly reported on here) generally get the names, pronouns and other gendered references they would prefer. But that’s a personal-level decision, and I’d in no way insist on, or even support, making it a policy in any arena.
Yeah, I get that. Really, though, I think it’s important to remember the Online TRA movement is a very vocal group that seems to be only a sliver of the community they claim to represent. I’ve got trans friends and family; not one of them has ever advocated extreme views like those pushed by the OTRA crowd.
I know the excessive comparison between the Gay Rights Movement and the modern TRAs is a point of contention, I do think there’s one aspect where they are similar. In the earliest days of the Pride Parades, NAMBLA was an allowed, and occasionally welcomed, participant. (Also worth noting, BTW, that it was lesbian orgs that led the push to oust the self-declared ‘boy-lovers’ from the movement.) I think the Trans Rights movement is having their own version of this, with an extremist wing that is not really representing the group being allowed to speak for them, with what will likely ultimately be disastrous consequences.

TRANSPHOBIA!!!!11!1
As if they’ll compromise on anything.
@Sastra #2:
Maybe refer to them politely by the name they prefer, but not pronouns. Pronouns are rohypnol, false pronouns are lies.

Any compromise from the trans activists will most likely be ‘give us all demands, in return we might abuse you less.’
