Senate candidate tells voters to fuck off
Dems tie themselves The left ties itself to the mast as the bow of the ship points down.
Actually there are a lot of reasons to say anything else. About 4 billion or so.
Why would a woman be a person who identifies as an adult female? That’s not a general rule, after all. A pilot is a person who identifies as a pilot. No, and you’d better hope the one flying the plane you’re on isn’t the Identifies-as kind. An elephant is a mammal who identifies as an elephant. No, that’s not right; they identify as Cary Grant. A man is a person who identifies as an adult male. No, that can’t be right, because if it were, women couldn’t be kept out of so many institutions and jobs.
Point of order — Matt Hoh is a Green Party candidate, not a Democrat.
As it says right in his profile. *slaps self upside the head*
It’s understandable. You’re overcome with joy that Charles is now king.
God save the King (whatever that means). :P
Ah, you see, this is the move to avoid the charge of circularity. Rather than someone who identifies as a woman, it’s someone who identifies as an adult human female. They probably think they’re clever in this, not realizing that it cripples their primary rhetorical trick.
“I’m proud of my campaign manager” makes me envision him patting a small child who’s standing beside him on the head. “That’s a good lad” like he regurgitated some scripture that was hammered into his head…
Okay, but what is a female? Let’s imagine that a person has been brought to a hospital with no identifying documents, unconscious and in need of a blood transfusion. The hospital in question practices sex-matched blood transfusions, an emerging best practice in light of recent research demonstrating that cross-sex blood transfusions are associated with significantly poorer outcomes in both sexes. (Note that sex hormones are not a relevant factor here.) How does the medical team determine whether the person in question should receive blood from a male donor or a female donor?
Bonus round: The medical team needs to know whether this unidentified unconscious person (who appears to be roughly twenty-five years old) is pregnant. How does the team determine whether or not it is necessary to perform a pregnancy test? Is there any case in which it would be necessary to perform a pregnancy test on a person who would statistically be best served by a blood transfusion from a male donor?
We all know the answers to these questions, of course, but it would certainly be interesting to hear what Mr. Hoh would say.
Since the usual position is to concede that “female” is the term which signifies the sex that produces large gametes, someone who “identifies” as female would basically be saying “I produce large gametes.”
Is it the sex or the gender of the blood donor that matters? It’s not just the patient that the team must scrutinize; it’s also the donor.
So a five-year-old (of whatever sex) can now “identify” as an “adult female”, and be a Woman?
Not all trans women identify as adult.

@11: Yes, famous example, of course, but would he call himself a “trans woman” or a “trans girl”?
@Maddog1129:
I can’t speak for other countries, but since 2018 USFDA guidelines have recommended that gender identity, rather than actual sex, be treated as a relevant category for the purposes of blood donation. Over the years, there have been a couple to-dos involving Red Cross employees insisting that trans blood donors fill out forms reflecting their actual sex. (I assume these employees became ex-employees in short order.)
This kind of acquiescence to make-believe is possible in large part because it is currently not standard practice to sex-match blood transfusions. However, evidence is steadily mounting that cross-sex blood transfusions are bad mojo (to use the technical term). If sex-matching ever does become standard practice, it will be interesting to see whether medical or identitarian concerns triumph.
It is indeed a jungle in Transland. Poseurs, charlatans and quacks wearing all kinds of suits and masks. Something I suppose like the eighth circle of Dante’s Hell.

Who’s his campaign manager? Piss Duck?
Re Colin Day @11,
That raises so many questions. After all, a six-year-old girl cannot legally live on her own; has “she” gone back to live with her parents (or if they’re no longer around, foster or adoptive parents)? Presumably “she”‘s given up her right to vote, own property, drink, etc. Would anyone who has sex with “her” be committing rape, regardless of whether “she” consented?
And is she back in school now?
This move makes it so they can neither
1. just keep going in circles, which was actually one of their favorite and most effective tactics.
2. assert that woman is a “gender word”, whatever that means, separating it from matters of biology.
This forces the focus onto “female” and “identifies”. It’s tempting to press them on the meaning of “female”, but I think this is a mistake. They’ve actually been laying the groundwork for treating sex itself as a social construct for a while, so we have to deny any opportunity to try the intersex gambit. Pressing them on “identifies”, however, doesn’t require inferring “not female, therefore male”. While a sane person would consider such reasoning valid, Genderists have confused people enough that it’s best to avoid the issue.
Identification, as we’ve all observed, is a muddy concept left vague so it can only be related to on a mystical level. Push it, and it crumbles. So let’s push it. Ask directly, “Is it true or false that everyone who identifies as an adult female is (or must be) an adult, human female?”
There’s really no good answer for them. They can’t say no, because that would entail possible fallibility or deception on the part of transwomen, making the definition transphobic. They can’t say yes, because it would mean that “identifies as an adult female” is synonymous with “is an adult, human female”, making the definition of woman transphobic. Their best option really is another, “Fuck off, transphobe,” but that particular strategy has seen better days.
