People of any age
The BBC has lost its damn mind.
Heavy periods, debilitating pain and infertility – those are some of the causes of endometriosis, a condition that affects one in 10 people of any age in the UK, who are assigned female at birth.
They mean women. Endometriosis affects one in ten women in the UK. Simple, clear, easy to understand. The way they put it not so much.
But what is it really like living with the gynaecological condition?
Two women shared their story for Endometriosis Awareness month.
There you go! Gynaecological; women; you can say it.
Yes, but it must be farther down the page, buried in previous layers of “inclusive” language. Clarity trumped by obsequiosness. It would be rather sad if it weren’t a deliberate strategy to support gender ideology. To tiptoe around to avoid “harming” the tiny number of TiFs who think they’re men (who are supposedly triggered by overt references to all things female which, like it or not, still includes them) and pissing off the TiMs (who are are enraged be the very idea of women gathering to share and discuss realities and experiences which they will never have because they are men) is ridiculous. It’s not “kindness” but servility. It’s the enthusiastic submission of the lickspittle and toady. It’s not the fault, or problem of the rest of the world that they are so sensitive. The demand to bend the rest of the world’s perception of reality and our words for it is pretty presumptuous. That once reputible (or at least less disreputible) media institutions play along with and promote this inversion of reality is shameful. Whether or not they wake up to see this (is waking up from wokeness a thing yet?) remains to be seen. It might well leave one wondering about anything else they report. This can only feed the whole right wing “fake news” narrative. On this subject of trans “rights” at least, I would say that charges of deliberate, ideological bias and distortion are well founded. This is not a good thing. This is not “kindness” or “inclusiveness” but manipulation. The (non)reporting of the Lia Thomas scandal is a symptom, visible to almost everyone, of a very serious problem in too many media outlets. They are sowing doubt in their own product. They are contributing to the public distrust of all media. Thet refuse to acknowledge the pink and blue axe they’re grinding, and the fact that they’ve taken a side in a dispute that concerns half the human population of the planet. This should be of at least as much concern to them as repeating as a given how JKR is as one with the KKK.
Interesting how the powers that be from CGD who testified at Forstater’s employment tribunal were so worried about her view’s potential reputational harm for their organization and evinced so little concern for their own beliefs (and positive bias against Forstater) in regards to their organization’s standing and character. As I noted on another thread, self-righteousness is a very powerful and addictive drug. Like other addicts, they will lie, and steal, and make things terrible for themselves and those around them until they recognize they have a problem and acknowledge the harm they’ve caused. I wonder how closely anyone at the BBC was following the proceedings with an eye to their own position?
I just wonder of a woman can sue the doctor who assigned her AFAB if she suffers from endometriosis.
The obvious cure for endometriosis is to assign no one “female” at birth. That will soothe the Transmen, who will no longer have had female bodies at any point in their lives. It will soothe the Transwomen, who are now on equal footing with all the other people who identify as women. And, of course, without ever having “female” bodies for endometriosis to inhabit, it’s eliminated.
Words are magic.
Good point Michael. Not just endometriosis. Think of all the myriad other health issues that are woman specific or largely so that can be avoided, just apparently by being assigned male at birth. Not to mention that being assigned female at birth consigns you to lower wages and reduced employment opportunities for life, an increased likelihood of being raped, sexually assaulted and harassed, increased costs from decades of sanitary products and stupidly expensive and short lasting clothing. I think it would make absolute sense if they just assigned every baby as male and let the handful that actually want to be women transition the other way. Problem solved.
Why do I hear people muttering about reality?
I looked up the best statistics I could find on the proportionality of people identifying as transgender vs the general population in the US and created a pie chart.

The amplification provided by bullying on social media is truly remarkable.
All the above, plus no, it’s not “of any age”… ye gods but that’s some garbage reporting >:/. Falling all over themselves to please angry dudes while completely making a dog’s breakfast of facts.
Hah! I was going to make more or less the same observation as Mike and Sastra, but they put it much better! Out of all of the euphemisms used by these types of activists “assigned at birth” is the most ridiculous, and this is a great illustration as to why
I was just about to raise a complaint to the BBC, but then I saw the article (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-60738948) refers to “women of any age”. Has it been changed? Or do those in different parts of the world see different versions?
2022-02-27 8:00 EST – The BBC seem to have corrected the article – it now says: “Heavy periods, debilitating pain and infertility – those are some of the symptoms of endometriosis, a condition that affects one in 10 women of any age in the UK.” They also replaced “causes” with “symptoms” (didn’t make sense initially).
They corrected it!? That’s progress at last.
Can confirm: that’s what it says now. It reads like a normal BBC article as opposed to a tweet by a confused teenager.
Wearing my tin foil hat, I might suggest that they deliberately put in the causes/symptoms error so they could see which way the wind blew and have cover for making the people/women amendment as a correction if required.
