If that was a baseball team they’d be knocking all the TRAs out of the park. But they don’t need baseball bats, they are winning through thought, expression, compassion, and truth.
For the avoidance of doubt, I sued both Prick News AND Ben Cohen for defamation, tore them both a new one, and would absolutely have seen them at trial had they not felt, ahem, compelled to settle. Documents outlining the case coming soon.
The unfortunate sequence for many who get trapped by their own egotism into a self-boost at another’s reputational expense is: 1. skidmouth off; 2. get sued for defamation; 3. issue forth with abject grovelling apology (thus digging themselves in deeper, as any defamation lawyer will attest) and 4. pay the damages. There followed by 5. regret (“Seemed like a good idea at the time…” or “It was just on the spur of the moment, Your Honour; won’t happen again.”) And it usually doesn’t. Few line up for a second time round in the defamation game.
As the immortal Samuel Taylor Coleridge put it: “A sadder, but a wiser man, he rose the morrow morn.”*
