It just will not happen
In the spring of 2018, Katie Dolatowski, then aged 18, sexually assaulted a ten-year-old girl in a supermarket lavatory in Kirkcaldy. A month earlier, Dolatowski had been apprehended filming a 12-year-old girl in another supermarket toilet. She — for although Dolatowski was born male, convention now decrees that she be referred to by her preferred pronouns — received a three-year community payback order and was banned from engaging with, or otherwise contacting, children.
A few weeks ago he was found living in a women’s refuge in Leeds. He was arrested for not alerting the police to his change of address.
Last week, Falkirk sheriff court heard Dolatowski admit to attacking another inmate at Polmont Young Offenders’ Institution while serving a previous sentence for another assault. Though a biological male, she has now been transferred to Cornton Vale women’s prison.
It is worth mentioning all of this because Dolatowski’s story is precisely the kind of thing we are repeatedly told just will not happen.
Why will it not happen? Why would it not happen? Even if you’re a trans ally or trans – why would it not happen? It’s not a rejection or expression of hatred of trans people to say it will happen, because the men who will do it don’t have to be trans. This is something your ordinary humdrum not-trans men can do because it is something they can do – it’s an opportunity. It’s like opening the bank vault and saying you’ll be back in a week or so. Of course it will happen.
But it is shockingly, irresponsibly delusional to think that predatory males will not take advantage of any openings offered them. That is their entire modus operandi.
Because why wouldn’t they?
Trans activists had a choice. They could have admitted that, yes, self ID could represent an opportunity for male sexual predators to gain access to female only spaces. They could have admitted that it presented a danger to the dignity, health, and safety of women. Third spaces would have been a reasonable option that would accomodate trans-identified men and kept women’s spaces single sex. But no. It was all or nothing. A “third space” would be an admission that TiMs aren’t really women. Which, of course, they’re not. But admitting that was off the table. If all men (including TiMs) were to be barred from women’s spaces, that was going to be a problem. But the sweet, sweet hit of validation was just too good to give up. Women’s safety, or TiM access to female spaces? No brainer. The risk to women was a price TiMs were willing to let women pay, without ever admitting there was any such price, or risk, at all.
Trans activists decided to be “irresponsibly delusional.” All of their tactics were designed to put women on the defensive, painting them as the villains. They’ve thrown everything at the problem:
Word games: Since “TWAW (It’s right there in the name!),” keeping “transwomen” out of female spaces was “policing gender performance,” and “exclusionary.” “Cis” women were keeping “other women” out of facilities they had a right to.
Playing the misunderstood victim of prejudice and discrimination:They reframed objections to self ID as women claiming that “all TiMs are sexual predators.”
You’re imagining it! It’s all in your head!! Women were being hysterical about men disguising themselves as women in order to attack them (“That never happens!)”, yet at the same time women were being told that predators were going to get them no matter what they did, so why bother having boundaries at all? Attacked if you do, attacked if you don’t.
Denial: (I know, it’s pretty much all denial, but this is particularly callous) Trans activists still refuse to admit that what they claimed “would never happen” is now an ongoing reality that women predicted.
Sadism: While maintaining this lie that “it never happens,” they assert that opposition to TiMs in women’s spaces has absolutely nothing to do with any concerns about women’s safety, that this is always and only a pretext to hurt trans people.
The conclusion is that apparently, women have no legitimate reasons whatsoever to keep any man from accessing female only spaces. If it means saying “no” to the demands of TiMs, even if it saves women’s lives, it’s evil bigotry. It’s all about “centering” the trans, and it’s gaslighting all the way down.
And because even if they are trans, there is no reason to assume this one population of people will contain no opportunistic predatory types. This is something I see over and over again – if a group is marginalized and oppressed (or is perceived as marginalized and oppressed in this case) – it will be considered that any allegations against any member is wrong because marginalized and oppressed= good people in too many minds.
This is why we have people saying we can’t talk about Muslim violence against women or how repressive it is to require the burqua. This is why we can say something to women about how reporting rape is racist, even if the man doing the rape is white. This is why….the list goes on.
I first encountered this when I got divorced. Because my ex was gay, my liberal friends were unable to accept that he treated me badly. They assumed I was lucky, because a lot of women would love being married to a gay man. Gay men always treat women well, in their world.
It is likely that any population of men, even those who think they are women, would have at least the same percentage of nasties that we see in the general population. Thinking otherwise actually removes their humanity, doesn’t it? Now why would they want us to do that?
Quite likely. But those men who think they are women do have a much higher likelihood of being brave and/or stunning, as well as victims and martyrs. It’s a complicated, yet intrinsically heroic, demographic. Or so I’ve heard.
