B-but working in nursing is so VALIDATING! If you work in nursing, then you know that at least you’re a REAL WOMAN. Not letting trans people work in nursing is LITERAL VIOLENCE.
Hospitals do employ some non-trans men as nurses, even though it has been traditionally a womens’ profession since the days of Florence Nightingale. From my experience, both male and female patients in normal wards prefer female nurses, though more men are probably assigned to nursing jobs in psychiatric wards. In those the patients do not get much of a say either way.
PZ Myers…well, his reaction to this affair was predictable. In short, Dr. Myers believes the TERF witch had it coming, and he links to some other man named Jonathan Korman who twists the narrative in just the right way to satisfy Dr. Myers’ preconceptions.
I apologize for the PZ Myers comments. But, he still has some sway in certain circles, and he has become such a bitter, in both senses of the word, disappointment.
Omar, if patients in psychiatric wards don’t have any choice, than the hospital is doing it wrong. You don’t lose your humanity or your rights when you enter a psychiatric ward (unless you are court committed, but then you only lose your right to leave when you want).
When I was in a psychiatric ward, I usually had female nurses. As someone who suffered sexual trauma, they were quite considerate. Occasionally I would have a male nurse, but they always asked my permission first.
A woman in a psych ward is every bit as vulnerable as women anywhere else, and hospitals that fail to recognize that should not have a psych ward.

Plus: A nurse’s uniform is so damned sexy. Stupid Karens don’t understand that.

No need to apologize clamboy. He is a very depressing spectacle.
