Can but shouldn’t
Mmmmmm point missed.
Craig Murray is a historian and human rights activist and a former ambassador – yet he gets such a clear statement so thoroughly wrong. It’s not about the restaurant or the wines or the phones. It’s about the solidarity among women.
Weird of him to decide to sneer at Onjali Rauf, too.
It has been my experience that the poor are trotted out whenever people don’t want to do something. Even conservatives get in the act, people who couldn’t care less about the poor will insist that any environmental regulation will hurt the poor (most of them won’t, but whatever). I guess Jesus was right when he said the poor would be with us always. They are a convenient excuse…in this case, for insulting women.
Wait ’til he hears about all the disposable income crossdressing men spend on boob jobs and facial sculpting and sexy outfits and pumps, and of course private lessons in how to walk in said pumps…
Believe it or not, the VAST majority of women actually are men. Cis women are a tiny minority, and therefore we don’t need to take their feelings into account.
(Am I doing it right?)
@GW,
That’s how you can tell them apart. The ones with cellphones, drinking wine with friends? Clearly Karens. Cis. Boring. Awful.
But of course transwomen also have cellphones and go out for occasional drinks with friends but they do it differently. They do it vulnerably. So the way you can tell them apart is if you look at them and you can see that they’re female, they’re bad, and if you look at them and they’re… you know… *whispers* one of us, then they’re clearly stunning and brave.
I guarantee that the VAST majority of women the world over do not agree with Western gender nonsense. Using them all as cover in order to criticize the “rich white women”, who also do not agree, is absurd and disgusting.
The women gathering could have been huddled in a cave, passing around a box of cookies,* and the genderists would have still been freaked out and crticisizing them. Only by not gathering at all, by not celebrating at all, by not sharing their triumphs and trials would the TAs have been happy. SHUT UP AND GO AWAY!
*And this group of women would still have had a great tie.
This strikes me as a new variation on that ‘privilege-hoarding white feminist’ bullshit.
Ah, yes, as we all know, women of means don’t count as women, because women aren’t allowed to own property or exercise autonomy.
And the struggles of the melanin-deficient are also not really struggles, because whhhhite people by definition cannot face meaningful obstacles.
Thus, we know that the people in the picture deserve disdain rather than admiration, empathy, or solidarity. It’s all perfectly obvious when you stop to consider it.
When male billionaires fancy a nice day out, they go into space to general applause. But JKR isn’t even allowed to go for lunch.
I’ve been to the River Cafe a few times. It’s nice, but not extravagant. Starters around £25, mains around £40. Not a cheap lunch, especially with wine, but it’s not exactly developing an entire space programme to leave the bonds of Earth’s gravity for five minutes, serving absolutely no purpose at all, now is it?
Latslot: I know he s seriously misogynistic in the past…but Thunderfoot has a few recent takedowns of BILLIONAIRES IN SPACEeeeeeeeeeeee.
