#byeTERFs
Remember Dr Carol Hay? The philosophy academic who mourned the tragic plight of trans women in Ukraine while cheerfully calling actual women “terfs”? She’s still busy living her definition of feminism as a movement for men who call themselves women.
“Feminist professor of philosophy” her Twitter bio calls her. Yes it’s so feminist to welcome men into feminism, to center men in feminism, and to call feminist women who object rude names.
So according to “intersectional feminism” Donald Trump is a woman and a feminist if he says he is. Elon Musk is. Alex Jones is. Boris Johnson is. All they have to do is say so.
Hey, Hay! Meet Katie Dolatowski, she’ll be using the same loo as you henceforth.
30 years have taught us that intersectional feminism isn’t feminism, it’s bullshit
She’s right, in that we don’t decide what a woman is by evaluating their experiences and seeing if they count.
Notice that I didn’t say we decide “who counts as a woman.” That phrase is not only loaded with baggage involving racism, sexism, and Mean Girls, but asking the question that way immediately frames the situation as measuring individual women by standards. “Sorry, Lydia, you’re not a real woman because your breasts are small and you don’t have kids. We don’t count you as a member of our exclusive club.”
Instead, we define the category of “women” the way we define the category of “men” or “human.” Look to biology and evolution. A doe is a female deer; a woman is a female human.
Well if men can identify as women, then Hay can identify as a feminist and a philosopher, right? It’s all relative after all, that’s why they call it relativism. There is no solid ground — no basis in reality. They don’t even bother defending their positions anymore. It is what they say it is, with no room for doubt.
Any ideology that can’t withstand analysis is rubbish, it questions nothing, and answers nothing.
‘Question Everything’
…except for me telling you this.
She reminds me of the girl from ‘The Ring.’
