Having a voice as strong and un-cancellable as hers outside of party politics is important. Rowling is not dependent or beholden to anyone else, she can speak her mind without worrying about losing “support” (not that actual politicians, mysteriously, seem to be concerned with potentially losing the support of half the population. ) She is a lightning rod, showing everyone what happens when a woman speaks her mind. She is a beacon too, because she persists in speaking her mind, unbowed and unapologetic. Whether or not she speaks for other woimen is for other women to decide, but she is not bullying or threatening anyone, she is not forcing anyone to toe a party line at odds with reality, on pain of expulsion or ostracism. She hasn’t no-platformed anyone; she has not sought the firing of anyone. Rowling simply speaks plainly and decisively, cutting through kowtowing bullshit in a way that many politicians seem to be completely unwilling, and incapable of doing. The various parties seem to have gone all in with the twitterverse in screwing women over without realizing that there’s a whole big world beyond the insular, hothouse bubble of twitter trans-activism. They can’t carry on forever with the malicious fiction that all those women who refuse to bend the knee to the presumptive genderist overlords and their captured stooges are all flaming nazi bigots. Not with the likes of JKR speaking plain truth for all to see.
MC: Perhaps it is the greatest testament to JKR that she subverts progressive intuitions about about the virtues of limitarianism, and the fear of excessive wealth being convertible into political power. As Bernard Woolley might put it: I am independent, you are unaccountable, she is an over-mightly subject.
Pure speculation here, but maybe Rowling is planning to go into politics?
Possibly she’s going to found a party for women unhappy with gender self-identification.
