And what the hell does “take the power back” mean, anyway? It’s vague Corporatespeak. “We empower you to embrace your powerful power!”
Reminds me of that Pepsi commercial with the Kardashian. The one where all the attractive young people are marching with signs that say things like “Love,” and the pretty Kardashian stops posing for photographs and looks pensive and then joins them and gives a policeman a Pepsi and everyone is happy.
I wrote about going to the abortion-related protest near the Alabama state capitol, and the scope creep, adding in gay rights, trans rights, Black Lives Matter, possibly other issues.
Today there was a “Rally for Our Rights” at the same location. I did not attend. I don’t know who “we” are, nor which “rights” are being demanded. I got the feeling that it was another scattershot protest of everything.
Some years ago there was a very good rally for women’s rights that took place actually at the capitol. Some of my former friends, now alienated over gender ideology, were among the organizers. Heck, I helped organize as well. Those days, people had an understanding of what “women” meant and what “women’s rights” meant. But that was then. Now there is little talk about “women’s rights” among local activists I know; it’s replaced by “reproductive freedom” and “bodily autonomy”. Hence the rally today: “our rights”, whatever that means.

The incorrigible adolescent troll in me wants to say: Aww, you should’ve gone strapped and with a “From my Cold Dead Hands” sign. Been like, “What? It’s one of our rights. Isn’t this a rally for our rights? I thought this was America,” like you’re Randy Marsh objecting to being arrested for getting into a drunken brawl at a little league game.
Ha, yes, I could have trolled. I couldn’t possibly have done so about guns, but “save women’s right to single-sex spaces” or similar might have gone over “well”, and might have had me thrown out or beaten up.
It might just be an old woman (in the dark with the light behind…) and there is some sort of maiden, mother, crone thing going on. Or is that giving them too much benefit of the doubt?

The first march I attended in 2017 was very exciting. Not a TiM in sight demanding to be the leader, or centering. All about women. I chatted with some who had been doing this in the 1980’s for the ERA, and in the early 1970’s for abortion rights. They were excited that women were being represented in large numbers on the street, and joined by so many truly supportive men, and young women were just as enthusiastic.
The dream didn’t last long. Now men have taken all that for their own.
The women’s march – women not welcome unless they believe men can be women.

That’s weird. WTF happened to the Women’s March? Did they cave, or is this a copycat?

Iknklast @#1:
Suggested slogan for corflutes, placards etc: ‘Pigs can fly, men can be women, and all categories are frauds.’
Someone on Ovarit has noticed that they’ve changed their logo; the leftmost profile is clearly a middle-aged man.

My troll refuses to grow up.
guest @ 6 – why so they have. How very sneaky. The former logo:

How do you know he’s middle-aged? It is beyond me to tell that from a silhouette. He could be a young man and look like that.
