15 thousand
Iran votes for mass executions of protesters.
Nationwide protests continue in Iran for the 53rd straight day, despite nearly 15,000 Iranians having been arrested in connection to the demonstrations and who are now facing the death penalty.
As thousands continue to rally across Iran’s capital city of Tehran, defying a brutal crackdown by Iranian forces, on Tuesday, the country’s parliament overwhelmingly voted in favor of the death penalty for protesters.
Just kill them all. That will fix everything.
This regime must forever be a pariah among nations. It takes a supherhuman level of courage to stand up to such brutality and homocidal mania, inspired by the Words of the Prophet. (Ridicule Be Upon Him.)
I met a young man from Iran (he was in Canada as a student) and he told me that all the middle-class kids had secret clubs in basements where women took their hair out, they listened to music and danced and drank.
I’m not sure what the poorer sectors of the population are thinking about these protests. Sometimes poorer people are more conservative than “spoiled” “privileged” rich kids. I remember when RAWA in Afghanistan were protesting Karzhai’s “Your wife has the right to withhold sex and the husband has the right to withhold food” law that there were women counter-protesters yelling at them for being sluts.
I went to university with an Iranian adult student. it wasn’t too many years after the revolution. He was a really nice guy and didn’t at all like what was happening there, but felt compelled to return when he finished his degree because the regime would not allow him to bring his wife or children to New Zealand while he studied here. I sometimes wonder what happened to him. There’s a good chance he has adult grandchildren now, assuming he and his children made it through the last 40 years.
I listened to Charlie Sykes interview Barbara Slavin the other day. She was talking about her experience covering Iran for decades. She thinks this is a moment of reckoning for the regime, but by no means one that will end well for the protestors. it’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that the regime will opt for mass slaughter to stay in power for another generation. Massively sad because Iran has some wonderful people in it and actually has the potential to be the closest thing to a democracy in the Middle East.
There is a story going round that young women that are to be executed in Iran, will be married to the prison guards and then raped before execution.
The reason being that a virgin is guaranteed access to heaven, and this they can cheat the women out of paradise.

If true, it is beyond horrible.
