Worries
Ben Hunte is angry at the BBC. (He used to be “BBC LGBT Correspondent” according to his profile, and now works at Vice.)
But what does he mean LGBTQ employees? Does he mean several have quit as in a coupla lesbians a coupla gay men a couple bi people a coupla trans a coupla queer? Or does he mean several trans people? It would be useful to know, but the LGBTQ formula prevents us from knowing.
What about women? Does Tim Davie worry about them at all?
Last item on today’s Feedback. “Now before we go a short update on last week’s programme in which we interviewed Stephen Nolan and David Thompson about their BBC podcast series Nolan Investigates. It looks at the influence of the lobby group Stonewall, an LGBTQ+ rights charity on organisations such as the BBC, the Scottish and Welsh Governments and Ofcom. To the producer’s frustration the corporation refused to be interviewed. Well there was a strong listener response to the podcast and to our interview with its makers, overwhelmingly positive. On Wednesday the BBC announced that it will not be renewing its participation in Stonewall’s diversity champions programme.”
Said in the best BBC well-modulated impartial tones.
Friendly Atheist (I know, I know) today at least noticed that these people he’s complaining about are protesting over trans issues, but he still referred to them in the article as “two adults who spend their free time thinking of new ways to hurt LGBTQ students in the name of Jesus”.
In fairness, he did note that they did this political work on their own time, and who knows what “despicable” views are held by faculty in general if they don’t say anything about it, and he weakly supported the reinstatement on that basis. But I looked at their campaign, and it is devoid of religious content, as best as I can tell. nor do I see it as having anything whatso-frickin-ever to do with “LGBTQ” students”, nor about hurting anyone, only about opposition to transgender ideology. This whole “disagree with trans ideology = anti-trans = anti-LGBTQ = conservative religious bigot” runaway thought train is utterly infuriating.

Sheer music.
Oh lord. It’s such a dog’s breakfast.
Sackbut–
Hemant needs to talk to Owen Jones and get the story straight. According to OJ we’re middle-class centrists now.
Maybe we’re to understand that trans-skeptical people in the UK are all middle-class centrists and those of us in the US are all religious right-wingers. Whichever appeal to tribalism effectively signals that our arguments can be dismissed without a hearing is good.
I *am* a (blue collar) middle class centrist now, but it’s dumb fucks like OJ that moved the center, not me.
Ooh, a new stoush over there? The last one surpassed 2,000 comments and contained many an entertaining tantrum from certain names, I hope this one also delivers.
