Why is it time?
What does any of that have to do with Planned Parenthood?
Why is it “time” for PP to address “transphobia”? Why does PP feel called to use such harsh and violence-hinting language and imagery?
Tweeps are pointing out that PP Ottawa is the one that held a conference on “the cotton ceiling” and how to bash through it.
Sounds like a way to plan parenthood, albeit without the victim’s consent.
Someone needs to be fired from their little public relations position before the reputation of the entire Planned Parenthood organization goes up in smoke.
Planned Parenthood is also supplying “puberty blockers” and cross-sex hormones to minors.
Yikes!
“Planned Parenthood is also supplying “puberty blockers” and cross-sex hormones to minors.”
So much for their planned parenthood then. First, do no harm, err, do harm first.
I suppose it’s too much for the Planned Parenthood publicists to do a little research on radical feminism and learn that the “radical” is derived from the Latin for “root,” in that the ROOT of women’s oppression is their SEX. Patriarchal systems seek to dominate women in order to control reproduction, male sexual access, and a smaller, weaker helpmeet.
So they’re actually saying that there’s nothing sex-based about not counting trans-identified males as Women. … when their argument is “stop basing who counts as a Woman on ‘sex.’”
Any citation for that? We’ve got our Amazon Smile account hooked up to the local PP and I’ll need proof if I’m to persuade my SO to change it.
Google shows me plenty of PPs offering pbs, but there’s also one that says they can’t provide them to kids under 16. (Pretty scary that they can provide them to 17-year-olds.)
@Blood Knight:
A quick google search of “Planned Parenthood transgender” has a lot pop up on their official sites advertising hormones, etc. for “transgender affirming hormone care.” So yes.
I’m not sure how reliable this is (anonymous informant) but it’s quite a story:

Blood Knight, Planned Parenthood is very much in the business of transing children. Look up your local clinic- they probably have a page bragging about it.

By definition, puberty blockers aren’t for adults.
PP is always careful not to break the law, but the law in some places allows this. Here is an example:
https://www.plannedparenthood.org/planned-parenthood-mar-monte/patient-resources/gender-affirming-care
“At PPMM, we strive to serve every patient to the best of our abilities. We are not currently able to prescribe puberty blockers or gender affirming hormones therapy to youth under 16. Transgender and gender diverse youth are welcome to access the rest of our services, including birth control, STI testing and treatment and more.”
Several other PP instances I found listed minimum age of 18, even though they talked about puberty blockers. They refer young people to other gender clinics. Many, many PP locations do offer hormone therapy; some offer puberty blockers, although I have seen few indications what age group those are intended for.
I gather that PPMM operates in parts of California and Nevada, and the laws there are such that they can provide this care to adults and to minors aged 16-17.
Here in the USA, Planned Parenthood is doing less and less to protect women’s reproductive rights and the anti-choice movements are taking full advantage of that. Guess when PP start taking big money from TIMs their focus went right off abortion rights but the, TIMs don’t have to worry about abortion access, do they?
Turns out I’m the sole holder of the account so it’s irrelevant. Much appreciated all for your efforts.
I had a longstanding monthly donation to PP set up years ago. This week, I went to their Donor Services page, and found that they have a message system. One of the available topics is “cancel a donation,” so I picked that. I put “halting monthly contribution” as the subject line of the email. They give you a big window to type in for the actual message, so I went ahead and told them exactly why I can no longer support PP. They have abandoned women, in favor of a tiny group of men who tell lies to destroy women’s safety. They have also signed up for medical experimentation on children, i.e., child abuse. They did cancel my donation promptly, but the rest of the response was canned blather. They made no acknowledgement whatsoever about my reason for canceling my donation.
