It occurs to me that someone in this drama might be learning how to get theirself attention, and be on a steep curve in so performing. ‘It’s all about me..! It’s all about me..! It’s all about me..! It’s all about me..! ….’.
And so on to infinity.
Or perhaps that should be ‘a steep performance curve in so learning.’ I’s a tough one.
His honorary doctorate had to do with anti-bullying campaigns. I wonder if it can be repealed, forcing him to return the certificate? Probably not, since he deserves it (as much as Kissinger deserves his Nobel Peace Prize.)
It’s reminiscent of the sort of selective blindness that made “don’t beat your wife” necessary to hear for men who already endorsed “don’t beat those weaker than you”.
Hackett is also the man who lobbied for men to be allowed into the private areas of breast screening clinics, isn’t he? Because he wanted to go in with his partner, I think.
And because he wanted it, all the other women were supposed to put up with him lurking around there.
I can’t say how women might feel about that, but my wife had breast cancer and is extremely anxious when she goes for breast screening. She is definitely very clear on the matter: although part of her would like me to be in there with her, she absolutely wouldn’t want any other strange man hanging around anywhere other than the main waiting room and wouldn’t wish to inflict me on the other women there.
But Hackett wanted it for himself so lobbied for it.

Michael,
Yes, he founded an anti-bullying charity (Ditch the Label) if you can believe that.
I know you can.
