To speak out of their misrepresentation
Big protest in Salford:
So a…fly is their mascot? A fly? What, because flies are so unpleasant, especially in large numbers? Because flies are attracted by rot? Because they have iridescent wings?
Anyway they done riz up.
Interesting that when they’re protesting against a faceless media organisation they get five people. When there’s the opportunity to scream at and intimidate feminists, they get hundreds. Admittedly, those hundreds are less likely to be trans themselves and more likely to be male supporters who like yelling at feminists.
Perhaps it is cynical of me, but I do not believe them when they say they “expect” the BBC to “misrepresent … misunderstand … make factual errors … harm” them. I do believe that they want to perceive that from the BBC, but do they really “expect” it all?
Okay, having read the article, there’s a load of bollocks being spewed, such as a person named Phoebe who states about the BBC, “Most recently they published an extremely hateful article based mostly on evidence that they gathered from a hate group that says all trans women rape women, and in doing so softened a lot of the message of the original hate group, so they have effectively laundered the hate group’s propaganda into a public broadcast.” There’s that full-blown desire to perceive “misrepresentation”.
I think that may be a rubbish attempt at the Manchester bee.
@4 yes I was going to say–the symbol of Manchester is the bee, representing the industry for which Manchester is known. Amazing how many people don’t actually understand that almost every bee, and certainly every productive and industrious bee, is female.
Yup: it’s the Manchester bee (which does look a bit like a hoverfly, in fairness).
The legs growing out of its wings indicate that something terrible has happened to it, though…
Demonstrative of TRAs’ well-known concern for and understanding of anatomical accuracy I guess.
Enzyme @4: That’s about the only thing that comes within spitting distance of being correct.
