That walked what path?
Emma Watson of Harry Potter fame lets us know how perfected they all are:
I am proud not just of what we as group contributed as actors to the franchise but also as the children that became young adults that walked that path. I look at my fellow cast members now and I am just so proud of who everyone has become as people. I am proud we were kind to each other that we supported one another and that we held up something meaningful.
They’re just so wonderful as people, unlike that witch who created the whole thing. They’re kind to each other (but not to that witch, without whom they would be no one in particular) and they support one another (but not Her) and they held up something meaningful. It’s not clear what that means – they held up Harry Potter? Or they held up Incloosivity? Whichever, the point is, they did, and She…didn’t.
I don’t admire Harry Potter myself, but I admire these cowardly backstabbing creeps much much less.
Emma says of the crew, “…I know your contributions sometimes get overlooked.” Yes they do, and also other people behind the scenes including the writers. She does mention the fans in her me-me introspective, because that’s where the money came from. JKR is right not to participate in the self congratulating, her contribution goes without saying.
They held up something meaningful? Maybe this is true if “held up” is read correctly. Like: “We held up the recognition of women’s rights in England.”
It takes a remarkable lack of insight to say something like this:
without recognizing in any way the person who created this character. Yes, Ms. Watson, every dollar you made, and every pleasure you have from these memories, was provided to you by JK Rowling.
Other remarkable witticisms from Emma: “”Trans people are who they say they are.”
I wonder if any trans person who says he or she is Emma Watson will be allowed to make withdrawals from Emma Watson’s bank accounts.
She Who Must Not Be Named.
Emma Watson has played other parts by well loved authors eg Meg in Little Women and Pauline Fossil in Ballet Shoes. Doesn’t she wonder what makes someone a “favourite fictional character”? Y’know, some skill from the person who created this character?
She is a mediocre actress who has scooped good parts.
@4 Yes, not to mention the character’s, er, character. An actor who learns nothing from the integrity of the character they portray is either stupid or intolerably conceited (or both). Funny, you’d think a person so preoccupied with self admiration would be able to see their own character flaws, for example, behaving like a low class slob (because they are one). Having wealth doesn’t exempt a person from that, as we too often see.
I don’t think Emma or the others are irredeemably detestable for their treatment of JKR, but it sure seems that it would take more humility, courage, and integrity than they have, to publicly reconcile with her and admit their mistake. Maybe if the trans cult cancels them they will rethink the whole fiasco, but I don’t expect such a thing. JKR is probably making more money off the HBO deal than the actors are, and she doesn’t have to look like an asshole doing it.
I don’t actually care at all about the character of these three actors, I just care about what they did and what it represents.
What they did and what it represents yes. I was more wondering why, and moralizing a little. ;)
Weirdly I had a dream last night that I refused the Potter Trio the privilege of sharing a table with me and proceeded to berate them for being traitorous little shits. Despite being hyper focused on the Rittenhouse trial *this* is what I dream of (inspired by a single blog post here).
I don’t care about their characters either, but I feel fairly sure that if we ever met, we wouldn’t get along.
Blood Knight – ha! The dreaming brain is such a lunatic.
