Stop erasing us
The U.S. House on Friday approved a bill that Democrats say will protect a person’s access to abortion.
A WOMAN’S.
A woman’s, god damn it; if it were a man’s no bill would be needed. Say the damn word. Say our name.
Passage of the Women’s Health Protection Act to floor is a response to a Texas law that essentially bans abortion after six weeks, before most people realize they are pregnant.
WOMEN. Before most WOMEN realize they’re pregnant.
The Women’s Health Protection Act would protect a person’s ability to decide to continue or end a pregnancy and would enshrine into law health care providers’ ability to offer abortion services “prior to fetal viability” without restrictions imposed by individual states, like requiring special admitting privileges for providers or imposing waiting periods.
WOMAN’S. A WOMAN’S ability to decide to continue or end a pregnancy. It’s right there in the title of the bill so DON’T CHANGE IT. It’s about women. It’s not about men. Men don’t do this to men; people don’t do this to men. It’s only women who get bullied this way. SAY OUR NAME.
The reporter who wrote this idiotic piece is called Barbara Sprunt. Would she like us to call her Robert?
That covers the possibility that a woman who wishes she was a man gets herself pregnant, in the usual way or otherwise. It does not cover the reverse situation. A man who wishes he was born anatomically a woman has more limited possibilities in the real world. But needless to add, the transmen are probably working on it, even as we bloggle: ie blogging with the mind simultaneously boggling.
The TRAs must be pissed off they can’t bracket the name of the act.
All this “inclusive” language (people’s access to abortion; people recognizing when they are pregnant; people’s ability to decide) sounds to me like a loophole which will bring back arguments about including the father’s input. Women fought hard to make abortion the mother’s choice alone. If MRAs and conservatives as a whole can exploit all these vague references to “people” and “they,” they will. My guess is that someone had no knowledge about the underlying reason for these changes — catering to the special feelings of women who consider themselves men — would assume it all meant men should have a say, too.
And with that naming, the democrats are literally getting people killed who are now dying literally dying. Oh the humanity!
