Sorry, we had tv to watch
So the Biden people find that Trump just dropped that whole vaccine distribution thing as if it were a rotting rabbit carcass.
The Biden administration has promised to try to turn the Covid-19 pandemic around and drastically speed up the pace of vaccinating Americans against the virus. But in the immediate hours following Biden being sworn into office on Wednesday, sources with direct knowledge of the new administration’s Covid-related work told CNN one of the biggest shocks that the Biden team had to digest during the transition period was what they saw as a complete lack of a vaccine distribution strategy under former President Donald Trump, even weeks after multiple vaccines were approved for use in the United States.
“There is nothing for us to rework. We are going to have to build everything from scratch,” one source said.
Another source described the moment that it became clear the Biden administration would have to essentially start from “square one” because there simply was no plan as: “Wow, just further affirmation of complete incompetence.”
Complete incompetence coupled with complete indifference.
Made worse by the fact that Trump had had the benefit of a fully worked pandemic response plan left to him by Obama.
Why does it not surprise me? It does horrify me, though. No matter how expected something Trump did was, it doesn’t reduce the horror.
Holms, I’m hoping that plan will help Biden get to speed faster; if he can dust off the Obama plan, he won’t have to reinvent the wheel. Still, Trump not only knocked off the wheels, he set the wagon on fire, so it might be an enormous challenge even with that plan.
It’s all the more shocking because it’s not like Trump had to do anything substantive himself, at all. He didn’t have to stay up late, burning the midnight oil, working out the details of a distribution plan–all he had to do was appoint someone to be in charge, and to require them to get a team together and form a plan. Then he could have gotten right back to his golfing. That he didn’t even take the simplest possible step of delegating the work to someone just shows once again what an incompetent he was.
James, he had the team in place, headed by Jared the android son-in-law, but maybe he was all burned out; it couldn’t have been easy solving the Israel/Palestine conflict and all.
AoS, it’s funny you should say that, since an article my husband was reading credited Trump with bringing peace to the Middle East. Yeah, sure.
