She hoped to get Covid
Laura Loomer, an anti-vaccination conspiracy theorist running for Congress against incumbent GOP U.S. Rep. Dan Webster of Lake County, [Florida,] says she has tested positive for COVID-19.
…
Loomer, a social media provocateur, has been banned from most platforms in part for her Islamophobic statements and support of Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes and far-right activist Faith Goldy, who was banned for posting racist videos. She also has spread conspiracy theories about mass shootings and has been arrested multiple times for trespassing.
On the conservative platform Parler, she wrote in December, “I hope I get COVID just so I can prove to people I’ve had bouts of food poisoning that are more serious and life-threatening than a hyped-up virus. Have you ever eaten bad fajitas? That will kill you faster than COVID.”
So she got her wish! She must be very happy.
On Gettr, founded by Donald Trump acolyte Jason Miller, she wrote Thursday, “Yesterday I was feeling ill. I had a fever, chills, a runny nose, sore throat, nausea and severe body aches that made my whole body feel like I got hit by a bus, and after sleeping for a few hours, my symptoms started to remind me of how I felt when I had a bad case of the flu a few years ago. So I took a COVID test and it came back POSITIVE.”
She added, “I have not taken the COVID-19 vaccine, and I don’t plan on ever taking it because it is unsafe and ineffective.”
Well it’s too late to take it now.
Someone should explain vaccinations to her.
She said she was taking Azithromycin, an antibiotic that one recent study said was not effective in treating COVID symptoms, a dietary supplement called OrthoMune, and Hydroxychloroquine, the antimalaria drug pushed by Trump, Gov. Ron DeSantis and others last year that studies have also shown is not that effective in treating COVID.
Cool. She should also take Ivermectin, Cyclobenzaprine, and Ciprofloxacin, because why not? Just choose random drugs off a list and pop them, but definitely don’t take anything actually recommended by people who know what they’re talking about.
Killing faster is not necessarily a bad thing, if you’re going to be killed. I think I would rather die fast than a long bout of COVID on a respirator, not able to breathe. Though, of course, I realize that isn’t what she meant. She meant it is more likely to kill you. Yeah, but you’re less likely to get it, at least right now, and most food poisoning doesn’t kill you, it just makes you sick.
I’m surprised at the mecidines that have had to be eliminated by testing for COVID-19, especially the antibiotics. Someone with money had to fund those studies when a simple literature search would have been sufficient to eliminate them based on the fact that antibiotics don’t do diddly on viruses. Is there a study on amoxycillin? Might was well take it in the meantime. Anyone with small children will have some handy since they stop giving it to their kids as soon as the earache is gone, right?
God I hope Mike the MyPillow guy isn’t reading this, he’ll try to make money from it somehow. Why are they willing to throw everything at this virus except the one thing that is known to prevent death from it?
This is the same Laura Loomer that handcuffed herself to the stairs in front of Twitters main office, or one of its major offices, claiming she would remain there for days protesting twitter’s supposed anti-conservative bias, no matter what they tried to do to get her to leave. Police came and asked the office front staff if they wanted her removed, they said no thanks, let her stay if she wants.
Laura hung around for an hour or two and then left of her own volition.
Ha!
Bonus points if they put traffic cones around her. I mean, you wouldn’t want someone to run into her on the stairs…
There’s an infinite list of medications, treatments, supplements, and general substances which will not work against COVID-19. The search for successful remedies amongst this vast array of materials and concoctions would be a Borge-esque undertaking similar to those in “The Book of Sand,” and “The Library of Babel.” If the FDA starts right now, they might be lucky enough to find a winner or two amongst the duds before the heat death of the universe.
And.
Is food poisoning contagious? Can random, innocent bystanders in close, unsuspecting contact with the poisoned individual catch it from them, or do they have to take a bite out of the same fajita? Apart from needing to avoid the sick person’s bodily discharges, I’d think that food poisoning is going to be as transmissible as a broken leg or a sunburn.
#6 ‘Is food poisoning contagious?’
A good question to ask her & her like. But poisoning minds with bad ideas certainly is contagious.
I feel a little guilty about it, but I really cannot summon up much, if any, sympathy for people like this, with their stupid, clamorous confidence that they are right.
Hydroxychloroquine? Last years quackery, but old lies don’t go away, they just snowball into the general mass of dumbth. I’m waiting to hear Laetrile or Krebiozen resurface on talk radio.
She’s comparing covid to food poisoning as if it’s paper cuts and ingrowing toenails. Just because we’ve all had bouts of food poisoning and survived doesn’t mean people don’t die of it (see also: cancer, heart attacks etc). It also doesn’t mean that we’re all happy to throw out all the food safety rules and risk getting food poisoning every time we get a sandwich out and about.
Ugh, I just remembered – I had food poisoning once and really did think I might die as I was lying on the bathroom floor at 3 am and started to lose the feeling in my arms and legs. I would rather bin any amount of even slightly suspect food from my fridge than be that ill ever again.
