Oh yes? Well I want Ellie Mae O’Hagan to really think about why it might be upsetting for women to have men calling themselves women, and bullying any women who don’t comply.
I generally try to give people I don’t know (of) the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are fundamentally good people. So, when I saw the video I wondered if Ellie Mae was just so full of compassion for poor trans people that she was missing the point being made by the other side. After all, I’ve known people who would weep at news stories of a mistreated dog at the other end of the country, but didn’t give a shit about the fact the neighbours kids were going to school hungry. Then I checked her twitter feed.
I agree with this. I don't think trans people should have to debate those who dispute their very existence but the fact that they're not even invited into conversations about them and their lives is shameful. https://t.co/Bfy7rSrjsu— Ellie Mae O'Hagan (@elliemaeohagan) November 17, 2021
Same dishonest lie about disputing the very existence of trans people. And coming from someone who promotes their expertise and excellence in communications and PR, that is not an accident. No benefit of the doubt next time.
And yet, it is okay to erase the existence of a group that comprises roughly half of the world population, the group formerly known as women.
And they are invited into conversations about them; they dominate every conversation about them, except in places that are small enough not to be noticed (like my living room). Not only that, they dominate every conversation about things that have nothing to do with them, like racism, vaccines, toys, women’s spaces, and LGB movements. They cannot accept that anything happens that is not centered on them, Environmental issues? An attack on trans women! Infrastructure bill? What about trans women? War in Afghanistan? Will someone please think about the trans women! What are we having for dinner tonight? I don’t know, dear, have you asked the trans women?
In fact, they dominate the conversation so much it is difficult to see how they call themselves silenced, marginalized, or any other thing recognized as inherently bad by the people who spend their lives recognizing things as inherently bad,
So what’s the difference between “male bodied people” and “uterus havers?” They are both mealy mouthed descriptions of men and women. It’s not difficult to see the offense. Let’s just call trans “women” what they are — men. Stuff that in your “think tank” and smoke it. :P
“So if a person says, “Yes, I was born a white person but I am a Black person, and this is how I live my life,” I want to respect that person for who they are, because I don’t think they’re doing anything wrong, and they’re certainly not bothering me in any way.”
Imagine if O’Hagan said that. Imagine the outrage from the bien pensants.
The fucking arrogance of that “anyone who claims to know what makes someone a man or a woman is a liar” right after the lie that the majority of women (sorry, what are those?) think that that trans somethings are somethings is pretty galling. Not to mention stupid. She’s calling all trans people liars, is she not?
She keeps on yammering about being respectful of people’s identity, “live and let live,” while she does not afford respect to women.

She doesn’t know “why some people are women and some people are men?” Does she think babies are brought by storks then?
And to think UK leftists used to laugh at the US Republicans for being dominated by creationists and climate-change deniers…
