People who would have sought an abortion
This is so infuriating.
…almost two thirds of people haven’t yet terminated their pregnancy.
…people must wait 72hrs between initial visit and the actual abortion.
On the other hand –
But then –
…incarcerated individuals.
It’s permitted to talk about women being pushed out of a profession, but it’s not permitted to talk about women menstruating or being pregnant.
Funny thing is that the abortion and menstrual products tweets could be written without using either “women” or “people/individuals” if they’d wanted to write them that way and we’d still get the correct meaning – since it’s completely obvious to anyone who’s reading it on Twitter exactly who we’re referring to.
“A six week abortion ban would prohibit the procedure at a point where two thirds who would have sought an abortion haven’t yet had one.”
There’s no way to either substitute “people” or leave out the term entirely with the employment tweet, so they’re stuck with using “women”.
“About three-fourths of the health care workforce is people. An exodus of individuals from health care could have ramifications not just for the industry, but for the nation at large.”
Not got quite the same ring to it …
