Paperwork filed
Caitlyn Jenner says he is running for governor of California.
Why? Based on what? What relevant experience or education does he have? He appears to be woefully ignorant, plus he’s part of that whole nightmare Kardashian famous-for-nothing circus, plus he killed a woman with his car. What on earth makes him think he would be even a minimally competent governor of a state that’s bigger than many countries?
Olympic hero, reality TV personality and transgender rights activist Caitlyn Jenner announced Friday that she has filed paperwork to enter the race to become California’s next governor.
He’s not a hero. He’s a good swimmer athlete. That doesn’t make you a hero. Being a reality tv “personality” is a reason not to hold public office. He’s not a woman.
“California has been my home for nearly 50 years,” Jenner said. “I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality. But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision.”
Honest? He doesn’t even tell the truth about what sex he is.

Nit: he may indeed be a good swimmer, I don’t know, but his athletic fame is in decathlon, a track & field event.
Jenner is a good swimmer? I knew Jenner was a good decathlete.
Questions about the traffic death, and Jenner’s lack of qualifications and experience will now be deemed transphobic.
Maybe Caitlyn could save some money, and just identify as the Governor of California.
That’s fine; just so you know, there’s a post titled Miscellany Room for miscellania.
Whoops, sorry about the swimmer thing.
Ugh, another celebrity looking for election. The last one was not very good, puh leeze don’t do it again!
He is a way to “Own the Libtards” for the toxic flag waving Trumpalo crowd. Who, ironically, won’t vote for him anyway because he is trans. It’s another publicity stunt.
An actor will never be elected governor of California, let alone president of the United States.
A professional wrestler will never be elected governor of Minnesota.
An actor/director will never be elected mayor of Carmel, California.
A body builder/actor will never be elected governor of California.
A failed real estate investor/reality TV star will never be elected president of the United States.
And an athlete/celebrity hanger on will never be elected governor of California.
It can’t happen here.
I’m familiar with Carmel and it is at least a very small town.
Good point. I believe he was running against an empty chair.
That the Republican Party in many states is busy passing legislation banning transgender males from participating female sport is going to be a bit of a problem for Jenner when it comes to getting Republican votes.
There is precedent for stupid assholes who commit vehicular manslaughter to be in, or run for office. Lest we forget Mary Jo Kopechne. Teddy thought it ruined his chances for the presidency, it should have ruined his chances for any office, owning a firearm, right to vote, or any other priveleges that convicted felons don’t have. Bruce is no different, just another narcissist with a rotted brain, looking for a power trip to satisfy his twisted vanity.
That dude is just disgusting beyond measure, and it has little to do with his trans bullshit.
Never underestimate the ability of Republican voters to ignore, absorb, or shug off cognitive dissonance. Besides, Jenner is FAMOUS and has the an advantage of a huge amount of free publicity going for him. If he can keep things away from issues and experience, he could surf into office like Trump did. Hell, I’d bet there will be “progressive” types who will vote for him simply because he’s trans. Probably not many, but some. In some respects the whole trans thing makes him almost untouchable. We know that nearly anything can and will be called “transphobic.” The cut and thrust of a political campaign is going to intensify this. Unless handled very carefully (and even then), any attempt to turn his trans status into an issue could very easily backfire. Not that it isn’t or shouldn’t be an issue (honesty, judgement, stability), but it would be a difficult and dangerous one to wield.
Can I at least throw out while being an Actor is not the best training or experience, there are smart stars. We have had far worse than Arnold, for instance. And I am not sure that the most commo alternative, corrupt lawyers and rich f&^%$s is all that much better than being an actor.
If Jenner was asked this question:
“Do you support transgender athletes competing in their chosen gender?”
He could answer:
A) Yes, and put himself at odds with Republicans pretty much everywhere. Or:
B) No, and look like a massive hypocrite given his history.
Oh, I know. But I don’t think just smart is enough – I think relevant experience and/or training is necessary.
Actually, in the modern day GOP (and way too many of the left, too), knowing nothing about issues and having no experience is actually seen as a plus.
Yeah, because you see, my lack of any formal qualifications makes me free to think outside the box and notice things the educated elite don’t see through their theoretical blinders. Knowledge is not wisdom, you know (You probably need a moment to recover from this cosmic revelation of profound insight, right? That’s fine, just take your time). What is “truth” anyway, and who gets to decide? You?! Ha! The Ordinary Folks™ with their Common Sense™ already know the truth in their hearts and guts while the intellectual elite in their arrogance, locked in their Ivory Tower, removed from Real Life™, and thinking they know better, are hopelessly out of touch with the realities on the ground. Also theoretical knowledge goes hand in hand with practical incompetence, so the educated can carry on with their endless theorizing and over-intellectualizing and leave it those of us who got a real education in the School of Life™ to cut through the crap and get things done.
Did I miss any clichés? Something about Galileo too perhaps?
Many years ago, I worked for a company that put together a computer security task force. One of the requirements for getting on the task force was, literally, I kid you not, no previous experience in computer security. They didn’t want any biases, you see. The recommendations from that task force were the kind of nonsense one might expect.
It’s more than a tad hypocritical of the transgender Jenner to complain about California putting special interests over people.
Not really. Watch.
Jenner is a person. Women are a special interest. In fact Jenner probably sees himself as more womanly than many (most?) boring, ordinary natal women. He has to work at it. He has to figure out what to wear, every day. And that’s so hard.
See? Easy.
How Jenner squares that with the Republican stance on “gender” issues. Whether their will be enough of them who reflexively vote “R” (while holding their noses), who knows?
