If the word “woman” is henceforth going to denote people who think or feel* in whatever ways TIMs happen to think or feel, then any biological female who doesn’t think or feel that way must be excluded from “women’s” prisons, and whatever crimes they have committed cannot be counted as “women” for statistical purposes. Otherwise it’s conflating apples and oranges.
I should have elaborated. Any crime – but sexual crime in particular – that is recorded as being committed by a woman provides additional weight to those TRA arguments which rely on obfuscating the sex bias in sexual assaults. You know the ones I’m talking about.
The GC person says ‘we need spaces which exclude the male sex for things which require privacy – changing rooms, toilets, prison quarters etc. – because males are drastically more likely to be the perpetrator in any sexual assault’. The TRA responds with ‘yes but females can also do that, look at these statistics’. Even setting aside the strawman inherent in such a response, the male bias in sexual assault perpetrator statistics have been reduced slightly every time a trans woman’s crime is entered as having a female perpetrator.
There may be a slight hidden benefit in counting crimes committed by transwomen as “women’s crimes.”
TRAs regularly tell people who are opposed to transwomen in women’s spaces that they have to show evidence that transwomen pose any threat whatsoever or they won’t be taken seriously. Where are the examples, the statistics, the studies? And oh — no “transphobic” sites allowed.
As far as I know, no mainstream organization in the US specifically collects data on violence perpetrated by transwomen, nor are there any studies. News stories often fail to mention trans status and leave the reader to figure it out from a photograph— if there is one. Nobody wants to “encourage bigotry.”
If the statistics on women’s crimes take a sharp turn upwards when transwomen are classified with women, that’s public data that can’t be hidden. Anyone who wonders “what happened?” will figure it out. And the image of transwomen as nonviolent with only the very, very rare exception (who’s probably not trans anyway) is hard to maintain. If they were “just another kind of woman” with an irrelevant characteristic the crime statistics wouldn’t move.. Transwomen are not more violent than men … but they’re apparently not less.
Sastra – that is a very optimistic take on what is happening. For a clear example, Canada’s Correctional Service is at present not capable of answering a simple question of how much sexual violence is occurring in women’s prisons. It was so rare a generation ago there was no formal process to report it as data. Now, we know there has been a sharp turn upward, but there are still no statistics. Prison staff will tell you that has been the case for at least a decade.
I just got glinner’s email about this. There is a tweet by a user named “Trans History Month” blaming this on lesbians who don’t do dick:
“None of this would have happened if the lesbian community validated Christine’s gender identity. We’ve mentioned this before but it’s almost impossible for a trans lesbian to find dates. Maybe Christie wouldn’t have had to vent her sexual energies on her unfortunate mother if lesbians weren’t such bigots and more willing to date her.”

A quote so perfectly cut from the incel playbook that I am worried this might be a troll. Worse, I couldn’t find an account called ‘trans history month’, but then again I cannot find the @ name. Possibly because I don’t have twitter and so I am shit at navigating it.

Sastra, I would love to see that happen, but I suspect it will be like everything else. Pundits will pundit. They will analyze the trend, look at divorce rates, rates of teen moms, falling birth rates, and poverty rates to explain it, not the presence of males in the female statistics.
Just like they all tried to analyze Trump’s presidency using the same tools and assumptions they used for all other presidencies, and thus couldn’t see (or maybe just couldn’t report) on the abnormalities of the administration, they will use the same tools they use to analyze increases in the crime rate in general and will not ask “how many of these crimes were committed by people born men who now say they are women?”
That makes me feel ill. Every part of it both individually and collectively.
And now this crime gets entered on the female side of the data, a bonus for the TRAs.

C’Mon, lesbians, take one for all the dementia suffering mothers out there!
There are so many trans lesbians who can’t get dates because they don’t date each other.

Satirical account, thank fuck for that.
