What’s awesome about that?
Foundation Beyond Belief on Facebook:
Volunteer network team Atheists United just shared these awesome pics with us of their members participating in the October Women’s March for Reproductive Rights!
Awesome? Men demanding “inclusion” in women’s marches for reproductive rights, yet again?
Really not seeing the awesome.
H/t Sackbut
Which one of this bunch, apart from claiming to be a woman, is also at the same time and as a man claiming to be Our Lord and Saviour returned to Earth for the Second Coming..? There would surely have to be at least one. Maybe more..?
Quackery tends to be contagious.
I am trying to figure out what reproductive rights means for trans women.
Do they mean an end to gender surgery?
Just another brick in the wall between organized atheism and me.
I suppose technically they can go on calling themselves “atheists”, if they do not accept the idea of a deity.
But they do seem to have bought into the concept of soul, albeit rebranded as “gender”.
It is awesome that there was a march, that it was called “Women’s March”, and that atheist organizations participated.
The sign in the picture is the exact opposite of awesome.
I think the sign creators completely missed the point that this event was about Reproductive Rights. There is nothing whatsoever that men-who-claim-to-be-women have in common with women in that arena. The sign creators could have referenced “transmen”, but they didn’t, and they missed an opportunity to acknowledge the reality of sex. Likely, it was “this march is about women, let’s include ALL women” without giving it any thought.
The other photos include “keep your rosaries off my ovaries” signs. You’d think they’d recognize that men-who-claim-to-be-women don’t have ovaries, but women-who-claim-to-be-men usually do. But no.
Sackbut, I’m never sure whether they failed to recognize it (just showing up anywhere the word “woman” is mentioned to be sure we think about them instead of women) or if it is intentional (showing up on purpose anywhere the word woman is mentioned to make sure we think about them instead of women). I suppose I am uncharitable to assume the latter in most cases.
…
My first thought, honestly, was that this was one of those idiots who wants to have the ‘right’ to a ‘womb transplant’.
My first thought was Monty Python…but it would have been much funnier.
Well I find it funny. It just about sums up the TRAs obsession with making everything specifically about trans women, even when they have a perfectly good opportunity to bring up trans men and still make sense in terms of the issue being discussed. But they don’t want to make sense, they don’t want to talk about trans men (God what even are those!?), they just want to shout “trans women too!” every chance they get. It’s their “what about the men?”
