Limits
Well…
…yes freedom is very important, but so is not spreading a lethal pandemic. Lots of things are important, and some of them are incompatible with each other, so we have to choose among them.
As for “showing our faces is part of being human” – other things being equal, yes, but when showing our faces=risking the spread of a lethal pandemic, not so much.
Freedom is a good, no question, but so is respecting the needs of everyone else. Freedom that’s all for the self and to hell with everyone else is not a good.
Things Australians are protesting against:
Wearing a mask in certain situations.
Vaccines.
Being denied a chance to get drunk for 20 out of 365 days.
Lockdowns to contain outbreaks
Things Australians are not protesting about
The trial of “Witness K” in secrecy.
ASIO (our FBI/CIA) being able to detain without cause, with the detainee unable to contact family, employer, or even a lawyer. After release, prohibited on pain of prison, from telling anyone where they have been and why.
Denied any information on Astra-Zenica contract on grounds of “national security”.
Having the lowest proportion of the population vaccinated against C19, falling behind failed third world states.
Priorities, people. Priorities.
Oh, I dunno. It can get a bit boring being the same old same old all the time. Maybe he could benefit from a period as a member of the cat family, from Siamese on up to Bengal tiger.
Or maybe a pig.
Omar, did you mean ‘she’? It’s Ms Cates who thinks that showing our face is the human thing to do. I wonder if she’s in favour of face coverings for Muslim women, on the grounds of freedom?
My guess is she isn’t. Sadly that’s more a lefty mistake than a conservative one. It’s like the trans religion that way.
“Where’s the consensus? We need to arrive at a consensus!” says the fool ignoring the plain facts of the matter. There will never be a consensus because she and others refuse to listen to any opinion but their own. They oppose any consensus that does not favour them.

My brother expressed wonder when I vehemently objected to his “sheeple vaccine” comment because of a post on the rather wacky Zero Hedge troll pit. I told him I wouldn’t even trust that site for investment advice, let alone medicine.
